My wife and I, once again, stayed at the Alamanda Resort for 5 nights. Words can not express the true relaxation and experience of this hotel. The staff is top notch, friendly and warm. They make you feel like and old friend. Any request is promptly taken care of. The rooms are spacious and clean. It is situated on the best beach in St Martin. A short walk to crystal blue water and sand gravity. Beach chairs are free for hotel guest. The continental breakfast is good as well as anything on the menu. The Orient Beach Village, which is only steps away from the hotel, has a number of good restaurants. It also, has Tap 5 which has fresh baked bread, pastries, wine, quiches etc. If you never wanted to leave the property, you did not have to. Grand Case is only 10 minutes away. If true relaxation Caribbean relaxation is what you seek, look no further.

Althought my first review on Tripadvisor, I have plenty of world-travel experience. Alamanda Resort was a great experience. Location on Orient Beach is the best of the resorts that I saw nearby. Close to the Bikini Bar and just steps to the beach. Alamanda staff was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. Several excellent restuarants right around the corner. I stayed put for most of my vacation, but traveling to other parts of the island to explore is easy enough. You wont' go wrong choosing this place for your vacation!

My husband and I planned a get-away for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We chose the Alamanda after looking at several other hotels. We wanted a hotel right on the beach, as well as one that offered island charm and great views. The Alamanda seemed to have it all and we were not at all dissapointed with our choice. We booked our room through WIOL.com and received the best rate we could find. Based on previous reviews, we chose to stay on the second floor, which has the ocean view. The sliding doors open up completely making the balcony feel like it is part of your room. Our view of the ocean was a bit obstructed by all the palm trees, but it was still a beautiful view and we enjoyed sitting out on our private balcony every afternoon. The second floor is definitely the way to go. The room was spacious and airy and very nicely decorated. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast out on the patio each morning. The continental breakfast (that was included) consisted of a fruit cup, french bread, croisants and juice or coffee. If you wanted eggs, pancakes or something other than what was offered...you could purchase it for an additional charge. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. My husband had asked for a mushroom omlet, and since they did not have any mushrooms on hand, they offered to buy some and have them for the next morning's breakfast. The pool is beautiful and clean, but most people are out at the beach and it was rare to see anyone using the pool during the day. The hotel sits right at the beach, you can either walk out the front door of the hotel and walk across the sandy road or you could go out through the back of the hotel, by the pool, and walk across the sandy road there. From the gate in the back of the hotel, the beach is about 25 feet away. We went in October, during the off season, and the beaches were not crowded at all. On the beach, Alamanda offers free beach chairs with an umbrella (elsewhere there is a charge for the chairs...around $15). The restaurant on the beach associated with the hotel, the Kakao, serves great food and has a very nice staff. Located right next to the hotel is a wonderful little circle of restaurants. There were adults eating at the restaurants while their children played and rode around on scooters in the sandy center between all the restaurants, it's almost like a little village atmosphere. And there is also a small grocery store that sells sandwiches, liquor and groceries. The location was so convenient and we ate at two of the restaurants during our stay. Just be aware...all the restaurants sell bottled water, so if you order wine (as we did) and the waitress asks you if you'd like water, only order water if you plan to drink it. We had ordered wine and simply said yes to the water, expecting a glass of water and they came out with a bottle of (either sparkling or flat) water. We only had a few sips of the water, but paid $5 for the fancy glass bottle of water. Every restaurant we went to offers flat or sparkling water, so if you want it, by all means it's wonderful and chilled on the table like it's a bottle of wine. But if you don't really plan on drinking it, don't bother to order it. Overall, the Alamanda is an excellent choice. The only problem we had was getting there! All of the other hotels at Orient Bay are clearly marked by signs on the road and by different intersections. The Alamanda does not have their sign up anywhere. We drove around for quite some time, thinking we were missing it somewhere and then finally asked somebody if they could point us in the right direction. The person kindly offered to let us follow him and after arriving at the hotel, we realized that there was no way that we could have possibly found it without help. We mentioned this problem to the staff and they seem to encounter this often and said this was definitely an issue. Hopefully if you book at the Alamanda, they will have put up some signs by the time you arrive...once you find the hotel it will definitely be worth the trip!!

My husband and I planned a last minute trip to St. Martin in July and could not have picked a better place to stay. First, maybe because it was last minute and off season rates, but we got an incredible deal on our room. Only $160/night (USD), which included free continental breakfast. Second, the best thing about this hotel is location, location, location!!! The best beach in St. Martin is just steps away. Third, the staff is incredible. If I lived on the island, I would want Tiffany to be a BFF. She was amazing, friendly, helpful, and fun to see each day. It's always a risk picking a non-chain hotel in the Caribbean, but this was well worth it. The hotel is super clean, the rooms are huge and the bathrooms well kept. If you visit Orient Beach, be sure to say hi to GP at his KQ beach bar (best prices on the beach) and try Andy's for lunch (the mussels ala Andy were the best I've ever had). Also, a day trip to Anguilla is well worth the cost. No other beaches in the Caribbean can compare to those on Anguilla!

Alamanda Hotel is a really really good hotel, right next to the beach with arrangements with beach restaurants for beach chairs and parasols(normally cost $20 per day) included and beach activities and food and purchases charged to your room so you do not have to bring a wallet. Restaurants were just behind the hotel, extra convenient.
The rooms are great. We had a duplex, i.e. a main room and a upstair bedroom with a queen and a single beds.

The furnitures are rattan, dust trapping and me being allergic, had to take allergy pills everyday. Air con was really noisy, it creaked and driped and whirled all through the night. No air con in bathrooms. Not enough chairs for sitting in the room and so one side of the bed (T.V. Side was sat on more and so it is softer). Good TV reception, lots to watch and the balconies are really well kept.

Hotel housekeeping and services were impeccable. The place just needs some appliance upgrading.

Sunset is at about 7:30p.m. but all beach activities close at 5 p.m. Island time. A little disappointing. So we went back to the pool and the pool is great. Not big but enough to relax and dip.

This was the destination hotel for our last girl's getaway in March of '08 and we all just loved our stay here. We're big St. Martin/Orient Beach fans and the mid-beach location can't be beat. Orient is a very looonnnggg beach so if you go, know where you're staying to make sure you have optimal positioning or you'll either be cabbing or walking forever.

First of all, for first-timers to the French side (St. Martin), you'll find the hotels here are a bit more downscaled. They tend to be smaller, more boutique intimate affairs, with 1 swimming pool, and 1 main restaurant, as opposed to the massive, sprawling theme-park mall-scale erections that hold court in say, Cancun, Paradise Island, Punta Cana, Jamaica, Rio or Hawaii.

There are no Olympic-sized infinity pools or food-court proportioned restaurants here. In fact, I didn't even see a golf course here! This is a very small, drivable island, and the French side has more of a nice laid-back Euro-hip boho vibe and a sexy, savoire faire that makes it so, SO much more approachable than the oh, so over-the-top glamour and glitterati elan of its sister island, St. Barts.

The Dutch side has more large hotels, and downtown Phillipsburg. Me? I'm forever hooked on OBay!

Adiitionally, there's really nothing to buy here that's noteworthy outside the usual tourist fare of shell necklaces, sarongs and tshirts. If you can't get it on Orient Beach, you probably don't need it. SO stay, sit and savor the lush life at the beach and savde your money for the INCREDIBLE food in Grand Case!

And yes, you will need a car. Make that yiour first stop after clearing customs. And why you'll need a car is to get you over to the Sunset Grille next to the airport, after spending the day sunning, swimming and snorkeling at Baie Rouge on the East End. Enjoy laughter and libations as you watch the jumbo jets coming in from overseas roar just feet overhead onto the tarmac...it's quite the event here.

After our flight from Philly and grabbing the miniSUV (which for 4 women you[ will need!) we headed over to Orient Bay, down into Orient Village, hung a right at the beach road, and another right into the lot at the hotel and checked right in to the Alamanda, just around the corner from the village center. Our bi-level suite which overlooked the pool had a lovely, large balcony (which you can see in the main hotel photo) and, once again, we were in heaven!

A quick trip to the little market on the main "street" in Orient Village for provisions of wine, cheese and bites, and, ah, it just doesn't get any better than this! This is exactly how we always spend out first day at Orient. We stock up and so there's always someting in the room fridge for apres la plage and late nite snacks.

This being a small hotel, as many in the area are (mercifully no towers here!), we felt as though we were staying at a friend's lovely guest house. The staff was very friendly if not always completely available, and check in went smoothly. The phones went out after the rain, but, whatever. I wasnt' exact;y anxious to hear from any one anyway. Then again, we are not high maintenance. We are there for the sun and beach and camaraderie...and for Willi's fabulous 2 for 1 happy hour at the Perch Bar, at Club Orient!

We enjoyed alfresco breakfasts every morning at the small restaurant in the Alamanda before slathering up and hitting the beach. Beach all day, back from the beach for cocktail hour and off to dinner in Grand Case or nearby in the village. What a life.

Overall, the hotel is a great choice and value. It's small scale, lovely, private and quiet despite the fact that it backs up to the shops and restaurants in the Village center. A few steps out the door and you are on one of the world's most beautiful beaches. It's all about location. You don't have to leave the resort if yoou don't want to either. Just walk around the corner and enjoy dinner music, shopping and late-nite bites right in the Village for a car-free, relaxing vacation.

I highly recommend this hotel for anyone...singles, couples or families, any age, anytime of year. And we'll be back!

And visit Bryce's Paradise on the beach and enjoy one of Bryce's many creative concoctions. You'll love Natalie too!

The Alamanda was a wonderful, quaint place to stay. Our room was very clean and spacious and had an incredible Caribbean flair. Tiffany, Ludivic and Geraldine were all very friendly and extremely helpful with plans and suggestions about what to do and where to eat, etc. Since this was our first time staying on the island, their advice was very helpful and made our stay much more enjoyable.

Breakfast each day was really good -the croissants were delicious and oh, the french toast was so good. I wish the bar would have been open as advertised in the afternoon - it was low season, so many things around the island were closed, including the bar service in Alamanda near the pool.

It was really great to have an umbrella and beach chairs included as part of our stay on the beach. We enjoyed our days on the beach. Orient Beach is beautiful!

I loved the perfumed soap, lotion and shampoo - orange, very fragrant.

When we arrived, it would have been good to know there was an ice machine for us to use and that we could get bottled water at the market across the street. We were exhausted from our long trip when we arrived and all I wanted was food, something to drink and a comfortable bed. I am sure the staff would have told us had we asked but we were just too tired to ask.

My husband and I have been married for 23 years and this was like a second honeymoon! I can't wait to come back!
