“Good but not spectacular”

After reading many excellent reviews of the Palm Court I booked a four night stay there for my boyfriend and I. We wanted something close to the beach with great service and clean, comfortable rooms.

We arrived at the Palm Court at 2PM and found the reception area closed and locked. There was a telephone and a note to dial 9 to speak to someone. The person on the other end told us that the reception was closed till 3PM and we had to come back later. We had just arrived from the freezing New York weather, fully dressed in jeans and coats. We wanted to make the most of our short trip and put our stuff away so we could get to the beach right away. However, not only were we unable to access our room, we also had nowhere to change or store our luggage- what a disappointment! I wish we had been informed of this and I would have planned accordingly, instead of having to schlep my stuff around for an hour.

Once we checked in Alex and Sylvia were apologetic and friendly. The room was large and clean but nothing extravagant. The beds were fine and the patio was nice.

Over the weekend Alex and Sylvia were not there and the people attending to us were very unhelpful. I came to the island expecting the hotel staff to help us book arrangements such as a snorkeling trip and found them very unhelpful.

All in all, the Palm Court was decent. Do not go expecting first-class service or accommodations. It is a reasonably priced place, close to the beach with a pretty decent free breakfast.

m not as frantically enthusiastic as the previous writers. the hotel is charming but service is not as incredible as described. Room was spacious but not without flaws (most applicances not working, carvings made with a knife in the bathroom, broken tiles). I was a bit disappointed after relying on the incredible opinion given by travellers. Nice is the word, nothing more.

The Palm Court was the perfect spot for our vacation! Everything was great, the rooms were big, nice, clean and very quiet.
The hotel is not right on the beach (which is actually a good point, less noisy!) but a minute walking distance.
They have the wireless internet available everywhere for free. Just need to ask the code at the lobby
Alexandra at the reception was adorable. She organized everything for us(activities, restaurants, car rental..), I cannot say enough about her. And what would the hotel be without Puppy, the hotel dog who would adopt you in exchange of some petting!
We had the best vacations of our lives at Palm Court and will definitly be back.I strongly recommend this hotel for people looking for a relaxing and charming experience!!

We did not have a great experience at Palm Court and so we looked for and found another place nearby and after three days we asked the madam who lives there and runs the place if we could leave stating our complaints in full and were told yes we could go without owing anything further. Imagine our displeasure when we returned home to the U.S. and found that we were charged for our full stay even though we weren't there for eight days. It was in the neighborhood of $2000 that this cost us. You should understand that many on the French side have a disdain for Americans so don't take anything for granted even if they swear to you. BTW, the main reason we wanted to leave was that shortly after our arrival they sprayed foul smelling insecticide everywhere to kill the cockroaches. This resulted in some dead cockroaches and us getting sick. There were other issues like the fact that the internet doesn't work except in the front office which is closed every evening , the TV is no good in the rooms, and the breakfast which was new last year was terrible so we ate it only twice but of course we could not get out of the breakfast plan. In sum. Palm Court is very second rate; they have access to Orient Beach but so do all the other places there. We love St Martin and have vacationed there three years in a row mainly for the food, Orient Beach and the shopping but never again at Palm Court.

  • Liked — Orient Beach
  • Disliked — Badly run, bad breakfast, insensitive management, very bad value, lied to us

Our stay at palm court was wonderful.Rooms were elegantly decorated and very clean. The bed was comfortable. We had a little kitchenette that had a small fridge , microwave ,dishes and cutlery everything came in handy. The staff, especially darlene that takes care of breakfast and alexandra at reception were sooo nice and helpful...I can't say enough about them.Thank you again ladies for your hospitality. The owner also made it easy for us as our flight was in the evening she accomodated us so we could clean up after our last day at the beach.Encore une fois un gros merci!

The hotel is located 2 minutes walking distance from orient beach. There is also a convenient store/grocerie 5 minutes walking distance..beware it's convenient but not cheap as is everything in that area.We suggest you rent a car...it's less than 10 minute drive to Grand Case that has lots of restaurants, little lolos (local grills...delicious! and cheap) and also a small grocerie store that is much cheaper.Tha car came in handy we toured the island every day exploring a new beach...There is only 1 main road on st-martin so it's hard to get lost.and all the other little roads lead to the main one....

We actually ran out of time..there are many places we would of liked to go back to ..unfortunately one week wasn't enough....We will be going back very soon i hope.
