The Swan at Stoford
Ranked #1 of 2 Stoford B&B and Inns
Reviewed May 29, 2014

We enjoyed our night at The Swan at Stoford, the location near enough to Bath which was our decision maker in choosing it during our week touring the countryside. Certainly the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food and service lovely, and the willingness to make our stay a pleasant one was obvious. However, the inn is located on a major roadway, and so the traffic noises at night are unrelenting, to say nothing of the inconvenient parking across the heavily trafficked road. There is not even a short pull around to let off passengers and luggage if necessary. However, that being said, we enjoyed a delicious dinner, a fine breakfast, and the good humored staff throughout our stay, and our room was comfortable and clean.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback, I am so pleased you found my team to be warm and welcoming. I apologise if you found the road to be noisy at night, the triple glazing is usually very effective. Customers do turn up the side of the pub and let passengers out if they have trouble crossing the road, and our staff are always more than happy to help with bags.

En route to Bath we decided to shelter from atrocious rain and take an early lunch.
We received a warm welcome from Raquel ,the Spanish waitress and thoroughly enjoyed her bubbly company. Our starter provided very good value for money and was ample for two of us.The main course of fish and chips was of reasonable quality and also reasonably priced.
We later enjoyed chatting to the Portuguese waiter, which easily whiled away further time before we braved the elements again!
We will return .

we booked for lunch, had a drink in the garden which was nice before we sat at our table. We asked for a kids menu, and sat waiting,It wasnt even that busy we went to the bar and asked again for a kids menu and was told it was being printed !! which we found very strange. The waiter came to take our order in which we told him we were still waiting for a kids menu, he went to the cupboard and came back with one, so we were not sure what all the waiting was about. The starters arrived which were nice. then our main course came, it was ok. We had finished our main course and no one came to clear our table or offer us a dessert menu, the staff were sitting down having something to eat. We went to the bar and mentioned we had been sitting there ages with empty plates waiting to be cleared, the lady apologized we paid our bill and left. Most of the tables in the garden had not even been cleared of empty plates and glasses So needless to say we will not be going there again.....

I am sorry you were disappointed with the service, and that there was a mix up with the availability of the children's menu. We are normally complimented on our friendly and efficient service and I am sorry that this did not happen in your case.

We had our wedding in downton last Saturday. The swan catered for our wedding breakfast, we had a beautiful afternoon tea made up of mini banofee pies, lemon drizzle cake, scones, truffles and an array of sandwiches. Before we chose several canapés that everyone was raving about, all washed down with pimms, tea and coffee. They also did our bar with gorgeous local ciders and plenty of spirits. Overall everything was just perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything else!! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for caterers!x

We stayed here for a relaxing night before a gruelling business trip. It was excellent. Food was lovely and the situation near the river was idyllic. Only a few miles from Stonehenge and Salisbury but cheaper than many alternatives. We loved it!

Friendly staff who took time to chat made this an enjoyable stay. Ideally situated for a visit to Stonehenge or Salisbury. Rooms were comfortable and cosy with all facilities. Road very close but thanks to triple glazing there was no disturbance and we had two very nice nights of undisturbed sleep. Food also excellent. Recommended.
