I feelnits very disappointing to enter in the basement & wait in the kitchen area as gleaming as the copper pans are. I would prefer to enter via the main door .
Staff look down their nise & made us both feel like were dirt on their shoes!
the fish pie was way too rich & too much brown shrimp

We have dinned at the Estbek on a number of occasion and the food quality and service are very good. The food is excellent and of a high quality but on our last visit the lobster was slightly over cooked but as in past visits the steak was cooked to perfection.
We would dine her more often but the The food and drink are expensive and some of the wine price could be looked at ,

Dear Geordieinwhitby500;
Firstly thank-you for the feedback & really pleased you have enjoyed visiting us – and hope you do many more time in the future, just really, really sorry to hear you felt the Lobster was slightly over-cooked – I only wish you had mentioned it to us on the night as we certainly would always want to check ourselves & importantly put right.
I’m sure you understand we taste the sauces / dishes etc, but cant taste every meal, and were dealing with a natural product; every lobster, fish, steak cooks slightly differently so would always encourage customers to please let us know if you feel something is not 100% right on the night.
I don’t know if you had chance to read on our mini wine list; there is a full list available – which does have wines from £19 upwards available another time please just ask us to see the list – the mini list is simply what we would recommend to go with each dish & is there as a guide; also were building a large wine cellar – so there will be lots more wines of a variety of prices in the future!

Hope to see you again soon,
David, Tim & All the team

A top spot and our last visit of 2012 and our first of 2013!
Large prawns to start; Lobster and brown shrimp thermidor to follow; then cheese to share and a delightful chocolate dessert made dinner a treat. tim & David really know the form. I would like to see some French Wines on the racecard (!) but the New World ones suffice. Watch your head if you are a tall Lad like me; there is only limited headroom in the downstairs bar!
See you again soon and thanks for a super evening.

This restaurant is excellent and unique. Walking through the door the kitchens are to your left and you immediately know you are going to receive excellent food. A young team here and boy do they deliver! I'm not going to detail all of our menu selections except the fish pie - no it doesn't have pastry and it was fabulous. Fine wines can be had from their extensive catalogue, don't be afraid to ask for a particular type of wine either their knowledge of wines is amazing. We thoroughly recommend Estbek and will visit again!
