We spent a one night stay,as part of a tour of North East England,in early June.Estbek House is a lovely golden stone built Georgian house, situated on the edge of Sandsend village.Parking is available on private land across the bridge,100 yards or so away from the hotel. Our room was a little on the small side, but comfortable, and quiet.Estbek house is run by 2 young men,David and Tim,who clearly have a passion for their business. It is the food that really makes Estbek House special, and worth a visit.Situated where it is,the seafood is simly sensational!David was on hand at all times to guide us through what was best on the day,we had wild sea trout and hake, both caught that day, rarely have we eaten better seafood.David also has a passion for wine, and has travelled widely, especially in Australia and New Zealand, and his wine list reflects his travels. He pointed us in the direction of a stunning Autralian Chardonnay, which was a perfect match for the seafood. The cheeseboard is also a thing of beauty, with a wide choice of local cheeses, and wines to match.Estbek House is already winning awards, and will doubless win more.We recommend that you go there before it gets too well known!

My family and I came for my mother's birthday and 8 have to say the food was delicious. I had the sharing platter to start the duck salad and then the taster dessert. The welcome was warm and the waitress that served us was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for her. My father had the cheese dessert which originally came with the wrong cheese however this was rectified immediately and we wouldn't have noticed however the waitress was apologetic and gave him the correct piece free of charge. The steak is to die for and I will definitely be visiting again and recommending this restaurant to everyone. I would like to say thank you to everyone who was working on the 29th of June as they made our evening even more special.

We spent 4 nights here recently and could not fault anything. We were welcomed by David and shown up 2 flights of quite steep stairs to our room, Jansz. This was a nice size with a comfortable bed, 2 chairs and plenty of storage. The bathroom was adequate with just a shower, plenty of shelf space and limited toiletries. Shampoo and body lotion would have been welcome. The room overlooked the road which although busy during the day was very quiet at night but there is secondary double glazing for anyone requiring absolute peace.
The outstanding food is the main reason to visit Estbeck House. Tim and his team in the kitchen produce the most wonderful fish and seafood and even smoke their own salmon etc. Starters and desserts were also excellent and the emphasis is on locally sourced ingredients with some of the fish being caught just off the beach. Breakfasts were perfect, you can watch Tim cooking while you eat the yogurts and fresh fruits. Then tuck into toasted home-made bread thickly spread with marmalades and jams made by David`s Mum.
David and Tim make an excellent team, I only wish we lived a little nearer so that we could vist again and again!

A delightful two night stay here with evening meal each night. Great attention to detail throughout, Tim and David have created a charming retreat and superb culinary experience in a (fairly) remote part of Yorkshire.

Access is easy, parking very close, our room (one of the larger) more than adequate, with two easy chairs to flop in after walking along the coast which is immediately accessible.

Altogether, an experience to be repeated before too long.

Tucked away in Sandsend, this little gem is well worth every penny. Run by David and Tim, a very talented combination of Front of House and Chef.

Our room was delightful with views across to the end of the beach. Charming touches included a hand made patchwork quilt on the bed, and a little bar of hand made chocolate on our first night. My husband is 6'6" tall and we were given a room with no foot board on the bed which was enormous and extremely comfortable.

The best deal to be had is if you eat supper in their restaurant. We were not ready to book a meal both nights until we sampled our first supper. WOW! The food was superb, Our fish was simply beautiful, and close attention had been paid to every part of the dish. We were very impressed with our starters, delighted with our main course, and we don't usually have pudding, but there was no way we could resist - just delicious. This is the sort of food you would expect in a pretty high end restaurant, and the wine pairing suggestions were superb (David knows a thing or two about wine). I don't need to tell you that we unhesitatingly booked our evening meal for the second night.

Breakfast is also an excellent affair with home made jams and marmalade, delicious yoghurt and excellent full English.

Parking is just over the little bridge about 30m away from the place, and is free. This is no more than you might have to walk in the car park of a large hotel, and was not a bother. The road is fairly busy, but there are pavements and it afforded us the opportunity of looking up the beach towards Whitby, and seeing Estbeck house from the front.
