Stayed at the Porthole for two nights last week never having stayed at Sandsend before. It was everything the other reviewers said. Peaceful, clean, comfortable (especially the bed!) and with hosts that ensured we wanted for nothing. The views were stunning and with sunny weather who could ask for more......

We booked two nights at the Porthole as a getaway treat for Mrs W’s birthday and it fulfilled every expectation. Without question the great selling points are the view and the privacy. The one thing that can spoil stays in hotels and B&B’s is other people – no such problem here, just the lapping of the waves on the beach and the whistling of the wind. We rebooked within two days for later in the year; my birthday. Enough said. We look forward to sitting out and enjoying the view and a glass of something cold.

Room Tip: Come here! But not when I want to.

Private, peaceful, perfect accommodation. Photos cannot do it justice, you have to go and see for yourself. The views are stunning and the house is so comfortable. We have only been back home for a week but have already booked another break at The Porthole.

A beautiful house with stunning views. Spotlessly clean and superbly equipped. What more could one ask. We will return. Malcolm and Helen could not have been more helpful in telling us about the area and what we could see and do

I have no doubt that the porthole is the best place to stay in Sandsend. It was private and peaceful with a better view than I would have thought possible. The breakfast provisions were plentiful and delicious, and Helen was a most gracious hostess. She was very helpful in every way, and her passion for making us feel welcome and satisfied was refreshing. Whitby is just a short drive or bus ride away, and we felt like we had the best of both worlds: easy access to main attractions with the peacefulness of a smaller area. It was perfect!

Thank you so much Helen and Malcolm for providing us with a perfect break which exceeded all our expectations. Can't wait to return.
