stayed for two nights late feb, cannot expand on the excellent reviews other than to say it is all true, this place is as good as it gets and the positive reviews are accurate, but its even better! a great place to escape, informative owners, exceptional location.

A lovely big house with fantastic views. Helen and Malcolm the owners were very obliging as we're their hens who let us have fresh eggs. Highly recommend is the local pub The Hart with brilliant hospitality and lovely food, the pub is small with a big ambiance.
Betty the dog had a marvellous time the house also caters for dogs with outside wash area and even her own personnel towel.
Helen challenged us to find something that wasn't already provided in the house.....it took Paul several days to think of something then had a genius moment and said "knitted tea cosey" to which Helen replied "we'll actually... I have one in the big house ...but people don't really use them anymore. She gave him a point for trying.

It's a lovely little village and a lovely house.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed staying at CRAIGMORE, even on a dull day the view over the sea to Whitby Abbey is spectacular, we hope to see you again

Booked a last minute stay at this cottage, lovely location in the valley. Having stayed in several similar quaint cottages, expected the usual state of repair, i.e. average, but was really impressed at the cleanliness and attention to detail here, would definitely recommend!

We stayed at the Porthole for a 2 night break. This is a unique and fabulous retreat with spectacular views. It's so quiet other than the sound of the sea. We got loads of rest and enjoyed the terrace and garden.
The owners were really lovely and very helpful. Breakfasts were brought in the night before and were very nice. Boiled eggs, cereals, pastries. We also were left wine and homemade cake and biscuits by the owners.
Sandsend is a fantastic place and its very easy to get into Whitby or to drive to Runswick Bay.
We will definitely be returning.

A magical, peaceful place, a definite hide away/ bolt hole to have a few days away. The stunning views are something that has to be experienced, along with the sounds of the sea that are always in the background whilst you are at the Porthole. Its like having the sea shore on your doorstep, The accommodation it's self is spotlessly clean and Helen and Malcolm ensure that everything you need is there for you, for you to enjoy your stay to the full. This was our first stay at the Porthole, we loved the new arrangement of the extra space of a lounge area. That means you can enjoy the Porthole even more, enjoying an evening in if you wanted too, to take in more of the stunning views of this unique location. This is a definite find, a stunning cottage, in the beautiful Sandsend village -a winning combination every time...
