“Great Location, great food, great service - rooms need a makeover”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We spent 2 Nights at the Torre Remei on our Way to Barcelona. The hotel is in the middle of the Cerdanya, a beautiful wide Valley of the eastern Pyrenees. Great for hiking or visiting the romanic Highlights of Catalonia. Very peaceful, beautiful park and pool. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we had this summer and the Service in the restaurant ( also the hotel) was very attentive, professional and friendly. Wine suggestions were great. Our room was very spacious and clean, lots of light, but in some need of renovation - a bit old-fashioned and the bathtub/appliances showed their age. Still, we would go back!

On our way from the southeast of France to the bay of Biscay we had 2 nights in the Torre del Remei Hotel. Location a bit of the beaten track but beautiful surroundings. Easy to visit Andorra for a day.
But first the inside, very traditional with lots of details like the mirror staircase, the pictures and the furnitures but all nicely matching. Our Suite No. 3 was spacious with 4 large windows overlooking the park. The color was blue and it had all the nicknacks to create a home.
The bathroom had a jacuzzi and windows, all in white marble also a comfortable size. The only 'disappointment' were the bedcovers, we don't like blankets, we prefer duvets.
But the main surprise was the service, excellent. We had never before the comfort to order breakfast with just one phone-call in the morning when you wake up! 10 minutes later it arrived in our room with bone china plates, scrambled eggs, fruit salad and all the things you possible like to eat in the morning. Brillant.
we had both evenings dinner in their Restaurant, regional dishes with a twist, we enjoyed it tremendously.
All very recommendable.

Room Tip: we had a 1. floor suite, it was spacious and luminous with a daylight bathroom

Excellent hotel to stay in. Beautiful, excellent service, food and accommodations. Well maintained rooms and grounds. The staff are very friendly and polite. The spa is great!
The feeling of the culture of Spain is at the hotel.

Room Tip: All areas of this hotel are great

Why is it that all the Relais et Chateaux hotels look like they were decorated in 1975 by someone with poor eyesight and even poorer taste? The food is grand hotel and the service excellent; the rooms are comfortable with nice sheets and plenty of large trowels but, by the standards of today, the place lakes atmosphere and personality. Its age shows and it has been left behind by the times.

All the rooms are excellent. I won't tell you which is the best suite because I want to make sure it stays available :-) The breakfast is sublime, especially the scrambled egg with caviar which come in precious Limoges porcelain cups. Make sure you stay more than three nights so you can burn off the calories from the unbelievable raviolis with foie in the little gym (little but serious) they have, and then order them again the next day. The landscape of green rolling hills is one of the most beautiful in Spain.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but I recommend you go for a suite which is high up and far away from the kitch...

Although it is a very good hotel, with a magnificent view, in the middle of the Pyrenees, I have always used Torre del Remei as a restaurant. Excellent catalan cuisine, high quality, refinate BUT not excessively (I mean, this is not El Bulli, not Ferran Adrià). Carte de vins very well chosen. It is expensive -but worth of it-, and now they have for luch a very good meny for 30€. I recommend salmorejo, the fish (very fresh) and the soufflé a la toronja (dessert).

It is not an easy place to get to at least for a foreigner. But it is a nice little gem right in the middle of the Pyrenees. The staffs make you felt like home. The room is good and have all the amenities one would want. We have the suite on the third floor facing the garden with a perfect view of the mountains (France). The chef who happened to be also the owner attended to all your needs. He actually cooked for you unlike other star restaurant where the chef merely supervised. If you are driving from Spain to southern France, stop there. We wish we will stay one extra day!
