“Great for diving & snorkling”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

There is nothing special about the beach, you will see more beautiful beaches elsewhere but the underwater world is amazing, the coral and the marine life is one of the best I've ever seen. The water is warm 29-30 C, in some sites the current can be quite strong, I even feel the downward current that can be quite dangerous if you're not an experience diver, better to go with a guide who knows the area better. Most hotel in bunaken can be quite expensive but you dont have to stay in bunaken, you can get a better deal to stay in manado and take 1 day trip to bunaken for diving or snorkling

“Unreal Diving”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

The snorkeling is great and the diving even better. There is garbage floating around from the mainland but underwater we didn't see to much of it. Too many fish and corlas to count.

“Underwater Haven...would love to come back...”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Went there in 2012 and loving iiiiit...

It was truly an amazing place...it's not really that far from Manado and I would love to come back any time soon...

I went on a half day trip to Bunaken as I had to catch my flight in the afternoon...I made an early trip to Jengky Port to rent a local boat to take us to the famous snorkeling spot.. Together with 2 other girlfriends of mine, we managed to get the boat for RP 500.000 or around 60 USD..

We got our tour with glass-bottomed boat to the national park to see the preserved natural park, then to the snorkeling spot...if you don't have your snorkeling gear with you, you can rent everything, starting from the wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fin etc..you can even rent the underwater camera with or without the local diver "D...Diving is of course available, for those certified or not...

It was fun fun fun...and I would definitely recommend this amazing place to everyone...

“Great Place to Greet the Fish”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Just got back from there. Great place to snorkel. There were lots of beautiful colorful fish in sight, even though where we snorkeled, the coral was rather in poor condition. We only get to go to 1 snorkeling spot. The boatman said that only that 1 particular spot is designated for snorkeling (especially for domestic tourists), others are for diving. This was due to the concern that most domestic tourists have low awareness and tend to step on the corals. Sad but true, hence it is understandable. If you're foreign, then they'd probably show more snorkeling spots. It was pretty sunny when we went there. But generally, it's still rain a bit in Manado. About the boat, we took a boat with glass bottom boat with capacity for 9-12 person. So it was quite entertaining to see the underwater from the boat, although we couldn't snorkel much. I suggest that you stay in Manado, because it's not far from Bunaken (anbout an hour away by boat) and the inn at Bunaken is rather more pricey. Unless off course, you're really into to experience sunset/sunrise at Bunaken.
