“The best place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

Stayed here for a week. It is the best place on the island, we think. And I talked to a guy who had been on bunaken 5 times. It is a bit more expensive than the rest, but it is worth it. The bungalows are nice, as well as the pool area. The food is good, and they serve cake every afternoon - very nice touch. The place has a spa, where you can get massage. My girlfriend tried it twice and liked it - especially the quiet atmosphere.

The place do divingtrips as well, and the divemasters are relaxed about the diving, but still professional. We felt safe.

The place is located very close to the path where you can walk to the sea at lowtide to snorkel.

Room Tip: They have singles as well

We had a great time staying at the village. The bungalow with veranda was nice. We had a beach view bungalow, but actually there is not really a beach. With high tide, the water is just 3/4 meters from your room.
Although we are not divers, we really enjoyed the snorkeling. The reef in front of the resort is already quite nice, with lots of coral and many fish. I really recommend also to join the dive boats to other parts around the island for snorkeling.
The food is tasty and good with enough variety during the stay.

I just got back from a weeks diving in Bunaken and had an amazing time. The resort is small so you get a chance to meet and talk with your fellow travelers. The owners are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. I appreciated that they ate dinner with the guests which gave it more of a family feel. Resort staff were always smiling and saying hello. Food was very tasty, served as a buffet style, always plenty to eat. After diving in the morning I enjoyed sitting around the pool and looked forward to the afternoon cake served everyday. Dive center is right on the resort with very friendly knowledgeable staff, and good equipment for rental.

It's a great place, and the Trip Advisor Traveler awards 2012 and 2013 are well deserved. Don't expect 5-star international comfort, but a very friendly and clean resort with 8 bungalows, each with their private verandas with hammocks! Rooms are fan cooled (aircon available at an extra charge).

We stayed for about a week with our 7-month old baby and friends and had a great time. The resort is intimate and beautiful, the diving good, the staff very friendly and extremely helpful and the buffet-style lunches and dinners phenomenal. We loved hanging out around the pool with a cold drink in the afternoon or taking a massage. Other travellers and the owners mingle during lunch and dinner, which is a great way to exchange travel stories. The staff & owners really went out of their way to give us the best possible stay. We will miss the good vibes and the great food. We highly recommend The Village Bunaken, even if you are not a diver.

Bunaken Island is 30 minutes from Manado. NO SANDY BEACH on the island as many hotels advertise. It's a wonderful place for snorkeling and diving but no other activities rather than those ones.
Bunaken Village is a wonderful place for spending a few days alone with friends or family. The cottages are big.and clean. Food is very good and fresh. Every day a different menu and fantastic cakes at 4pm.
Dive center is super and people are patient always.
I visited other resorts and cottages in the islan and this one is the best for its price.

This is a paradise for a diving family! Everything was very nice designed giving a cosy relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a family bungalow, which was very nice. The whole resort had free wifi that worked very well, even inside your bungalow. The food was delicious, well cooked and plenty. There were always two choices of courses. Everybody working at the resort was very friendly and helpful especially the owners Angelina and Joacim who always dined with the guests, making the place feel very cosy and familiar. My son (12 years) and husband did test dives and I and our other son (10 years) snorkeled. The diving was fantastic we saw large turtles every time. Just outside the resort there were a wall offering very good snorkeling and diving just from the beach.
I also tested the spa and had a very nice massage. After the massage you were served the best ginger tea ever!
We warmly recommend this place and will definitely try to come back.

We stayed for 5 days over New Year's. The bungalows are beautiful and well maintained. Clean with nice design set in a beautiful garden. The atmosphere is relaxed and staff very friendly. Food was good with considerable variety. For the new years we had a fantastic barbecue and celebrated with fireworks which was great fun.
We had a very good experience diving. The reef is stunning. Gear is new and boats are new and well maintained. Our guide was excellent spotting all sorts of creatures in the water and keeping a good eye on the divers, especially beginners.
pricing is reasonable and straightforward with no surprises. Booking directly through their website was easy - we got a response within a couple of hours of sending a request. Thank you Angelina and Jochem and we will be back!
