Went there more than 5 times in the last two years! The staff is awesome, the diving is the best around and the place has all the comodities you can expect. Very relaxed place to stay and relax off the beaten track.
Higly recomended
The manager Alex is a great guy! Thanks for everything, hope to see you again!
All the best

Stayed one week, only diving.
Breakfast and dinner more than enough, and no complaint on taste\variety considering that this is a small resort of Indonesia. i would recomend though to skip lunch and go to the warungs on the beach for those not afraid of local cuisine.
Bungalows are on the cliff facing the sea, all separated for tranquility. Having mine next to the WiFi antenna, signal was good and stable. in addition, the setup of the beach with dive center, bar and relax zone is very nicely set.
Diving was a pleasant surprise considering some comments I read on internet. Good variety of dives (slopes\wreck\wall). Few large fishes indeed, more geared towards macro, but in general very nice landscapes, although mostly deeper than 20m down to the sand bottom. Even the house reef is pretty good there between 20 and 40. in addition, day trip to outstanding walls and interesting (deep) wreck are possible.

We stayed in Prince John in July, and the weather in Donggala was unsettled, to say the least. Of course, this can't be helped by the hotel, but the open construction of the bungalows made for 2 very windy and cold nights, with very small sheets and no blankets. The beach area was lovely, but by no means litter free. The house reef to the right was nice for snorkelling, but the boat trip with divers was a waste of money, because the reef was too deep, and no attention was paid to the snorkellers. Contrary to other comments we did like the owners, staff was very nice and the food was excellent. I thought that the transfer to the airport by taxi, organized by the hotel, was a bit expensive, but, all in all, we had a pleasant 5 days at the resort. The overall rating is more than average, but not very good!

Technically this resort has it all - bungalows on a cliff overlooking the sea on nice grounds, good restaurant area, calm sea with a little beach, and coral reefs all around. But, there's something missing... Our arrival was marred by a seemingly complete lack of interest by the (foreign) manager/owner, thankfully his local staff were much better. The rooms are quite ok, and pleasant, but clearly have seen better days. The restaurant area is nice, food is ok, not particularly notable though. The dive boat is good - the big one, that is - beautiful lines but also comfortable. The dive centre is well-equiped, and they clearly know what they are doing. Dissapointments were the insistence of the DM for a checkout dive - as a very frequent diver who just a few days before dived elsewhere in Indonesia, and with limited days at the resort, being forced to dive the "house reef" was as expected - a waste of time - it's an ok spot for night dives, but as a serious photographer, the house reef is its usual rubbish. I'm getting rather frustrated that as an experienced diver resorts such as these treat me like a beginner!

The dive sites further out were not that great either - of those we did only one stood out as being ok, but a lack of fish life and moderate quality coral means that any serious diver who knows Indonesia or similar areas should not bother coming here - you'll only get dissapointed.

In summary: if you're new to diving and this is your first trip to warm waters, this place is ok - but you can really spend your money better elsewhere.

Room Tip: Some bungalows are rather far from the main area, up a slope - so try and stay closer to the bottom...

We stayed for 5D4N just for diving, diving, and diving. The wooden-made bungalow is just great with its beachfront view. No air conditioner but the temperature at night is ok while you put your head on the pillow you could listen the voice of the nature. They need to work something out with the food. Why is this a nice place for an escape, you could turn off your mobile and all gadgets and blend with the beauty of Donggala. Although, if you need some internet connection they provide a good wifi thats reachable near the bar and dive center. The dive guide is good, if you're looking for an easy dive, this is the place. We'll come back again for dugong and all underwater creatures!

Room Tip: Beachfront view room is the best!

We stayed here for 5D/4N on bungalow 5. We ordered a pick up from the airport but actually there are many taxis at the airport.

Considering how far it is from Jakarta, I expect mediocre everything and was ready to receive bad service. I could not be more wrong! When we booked, I was quite thrown off by the response from the German owner but I suppose it's just a different way of communicating. The owner was not at the resort, anyway. The staff was excellent, the rooms were clean, and the diving was better that I expected. We stayed in a wood bungalow with an open shower and overlooking the sea. There is no AC, electricity is only on from 6PM to 6 AM, and our bed had a mosquito net. It adds a certain tranquility to the whole place.

We went for six dives, including one night dive. We saw many types of fish, some sharks, turtles, spanish dancer, and a ghost pipefish. There are a lot of dive spots in the area. Our guide was great and very attentive but I'm sure the others are too. He took care of me when I couldn't fight the current. He didn't touch anything and always put everything back where it was if he had to.

The price is already including three meals which are, to me, just edible. I can not say they were delicious, they were just okay. There are very few selection of meat, we only had one grilled chicken dinner and another fried fish dinner. I don't understand why they have to put leek on everything!

The area was very quiet and serene. It was definitely a very nice getaway. However, starting on Saturday morning, the locals started to come and I was expecting a swarm of people. Well, the loudness comes on Sunday afternoon. Locals just by the beach, under our bungalow, was quite loud. We went snorkeling for a bit and they were standing on the beautiful corals which are not that far from the shore. There are some karaoke music from the bungalows around it starting Friday night but not loud. The mosques are quite far so the singing can barely be heard.

The guests are mostly older Germans. I think we did not see a lot of young groups of people because it is very quiet and you practically do not have anywhere else to go to.

I would definitely come back! There are still so many dive sites that I haven't gone to, the place was just the kind of serene that I need, the service was very very good, the area was clean, it was just plain awesome. Make sure you email the owner to have a good price and bargain nicely before popping by.

Room Tip: Bungalows 1- to 4 seems to be the most expensive ones. Everything is by overlooking the ocean.

This hotel in Donggala is about 30 min drive from Palu on the remote extreme northern point of Donggala.

We just dropped by without reservations so we got one of the older bungalows. The new ones look very nice with good bathrooms. Ours was OK, but sometimes I felt as if I could fall through the floor because of all the damage by termites. Bathroom with mandi and no hot water, but that is OK in the hot climate. The mosquito net was good! Unfortunately there was a very active cuscus in the vegetation on the roof during the night.

Location of the bungalows is very good: away from the communal buildings, with sea views.
The grounds need some attention. The cats use the sandy terrain around the bar as their kamar kecil.
The beach is perfectly white. In front you can snorkel and dive, but beware of the strong currents.

Food is quite good. I had a very good banana flower in coconut sauce.

German management (which seems absent) so expect a lot of guests from that country.

Room Tip: Go for the newer bungalows, although I don't know what they cost.
