We were thrilled to discover this attractive cottage in a quiet village by the sea. The renovation has been carried out to a very high standard and is comfortable with many amenities. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped and being coffee drinkers we were pleased to discover a plethora of filter coffee makers. There is a full sized dishwasher which was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom is beautiful and has lovely fittings. Although we were only there for a short time we did enjoy catching up with British TV.
We had one of the best French meals we have ever had just a few minutes walk from the house. It overlooked the fishing port and was frequented by locals which is always a good sign. The portions were enormous though! The owners were extremely friendly and very accommodating so the whole evening was very enjoyable.
There is a wonderful bakery in the main street and they sold the most delicious fresh bread and cakes. They open very early in the morning so it’s lovely to have a 5 minute stroll to collect items for breakfast. A few yards further leads to a fish market where you can purchase the catch of the day.
Although our time was short we managed to visit a wonderful Monday market in Carentan. This was a great experience. Also we found a large supermarket nearby called LeClerc, where we bought wine and gifts. There is a small supermarket near the house for general shopping.
We had a thoroughly lovely stay and look forward to returning.
