Patricia and Laurent - thank you again for your great hospitality and making my stay in Normandy truly amazing ! To prospective guests. The Spirit of 1944 is a fantastic place to stay while visiting the landing beaches. Location is very close to every historic site. Plus you will get some help and guidance from your hosts to make the experience even better. I thought I had a great guide book with me but the detailed map Laurent provided gave me an opportunity to visit some less visited sites that were incredible (like German bunkers right on the beach that I had to myself). In terms of the inn itself I stayed in the Eisenhower room that was incredibly comfortable and nicely decorated in the spirit of 1944. Adjacent bathroom was spacious, very clean and reminded me of some quite fancy hotels I stayed at in the past. The farmhouse is located outside of the village center and I can guarantee you will get a good night sleep as it is very quiet especially at night. This historic house has a very nice library and again is decorated with various pieces related to 1944 and the liberation of France (which for a military hobbyist like me was an additional treat). Breakfast was fantastic both days and I cannot praise the hospitality of Patricia and Laurent enough ! When I come back to the area I have no doubt where I will stay ! If you are looking for a great place to stay during your visit to Normandy The Spirit of 1944 is the place to go.

We spent a fantastic week in Normandy and we’re happy we chose ‘Spirit of 1944’ as location. It was perfect, the best B&B we’ve ever seen! We felt like at home; Patricia and Laurent are wonderful hosts and they know everything about the D-Day, the historical sites and the best things and places to see and visit. Their house, decorated style 1944, is extremely comfortable, clean and quiet, and great for exploring the Normandy region. Breakfast is absolutely delicious, a great way to begin the day. Everything was outstanding, it was an extraordinary experience and we’ll definitely go back!

It is impossible to compare staying at the Spirit of 1944 with any other B&B or hotel. The hosts, Patricia and Laurent, welcome you into their home and you are treated as an old friend as much as a guests. We opted for an evening meal and were treated to fantastic food, wine and the company of our hosts, their friend and the othe guest. This was, effectively, an informal dinner party.

The quality of the decor and furnishings is second to none, themed around the events of the Battle of Normandy, and tasteful and interesting in equal measure.

I would thoroughly recommend staying at the Spririt of 1944 and, if you do, opting to have a meal with your hosts.

Room Tip: I am sure that both rooms are equally superb.

The décor is based around the second world war, it is done with great taste and attention to detail, it is also very clean and comfortable, Patricia and Laurent could not do enough for you. My husband was not well they asked if there was anything they could do but all he wanted was to sleep. They do not do food in the evening, but they kindly sorted out something for me, I had a great tuna salad, bread, fresh fruit and a beautiful tart and of course wine. The breakfast they offer is a great way to start the day.

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and loved every minute. This charming French farmhouse has been lovingly restored and meticulously decorated by owners Patricia and Laurent. Their warm hospitality made us feel like we were staying with old friends who happened to have a beautiful home in the pastoral and historic Normandy countryside. I hesitate to share this jewel of a B&B because once the word gets out, savvy travelers will be clamoring to stay here. But that would be selfish and they've earned my highest public praise. This is a place you'll never forget and the one you'll share with your closest friends. We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I decided to visit the famous area of France where took place the landing and Dday. We booked a night with Laurent and Patricia who welcomed us when we arrived à 7pm with cider of Normandy. Their house is completly decorated in relation with 1944 and the landing but with a lot of taste! Laurent knows everything about this time of History and guided us the day after on the battle fields, omaha beach and American military cemetary. He knows so much that the visit was amazing! I also forgot to mention Patricia's breakfast: the best I ever tried in à French B&B with croissant, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin, egg any style, frech orange and apple juice and so much more. The room was quite as the house is in the countryside and the owners made me feel at home immediately. I will definitely come back as you need at least 4 days to see all the surroundings!
