“'First Class'”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

My wife and I have stayed at Le Moulin de l’Epinay on our way to and from the Loire Valley on a couple of trips, on the last occasion with a friend who stayed in an adjacent room.

The rooms are very comfortable, and very clean – with both French and UK television channels.

Breakfast is typically French, with a selection of cereals, yoghurt, and bread and croissants.

Dinner is available by prior request – and Lynn [with help from Duncan] prepares and serve first class meals.

Le Moulin is a convenient stop-over from Calais on the way south [about 13/4 hours from Calais] – but there are also good sight-seeing opportunities in the area for a longer stay.

If you want something different to the usual budget hotels, try here – you won’t be disappointed.

We have stayed at Lynn & Duncan's more times than we can count or even remember and thought it was about time we wrote a review!!
We love staying here to and from our 2nd home in the Dordogne!! It is so comfortable and welcoming!
We can relax and enjoy Lynn's wonderful cooking and Duncan's superb "front of house"!!
It's a great B&B in a breathtaking location!
Thank you so much for everything over the years!!

We booked this ovenight stay on the strength of the previous reviews and were not disappointed. The fact that one earlier person gave this a bad review may say more about them than the owners Lynn and Duncan. We normally get to most places using the Sat. Nav. sytem and are very experienced European motorists - ignore Sat. Nav. and put more faith in the good directions you are supplied with. For us it was more relaible.

Wil not re-iterate all the previous reviews which are in line woith our own experience.

Made very welcome and after a long drive then the opportunity to be served a good wine in sunny, warm gardens next to a tranquil water mill was a chance not to be missed.

The room we booked was on the upper floor and was really a fully equipped self-catering apartment with separate kitchen etc. Did not need this but was only unit available when we booked.

Dinner was taken in the garden with Lynn, Duncan and 4 other guests (2 were German) The English language was used for a friendly chat about the worlds problems, assisted by cider and wine etc. A very memorable evening in a tranquil setting when time felt as if it had stood still and reality was something we had managed to get rid of..

To be fully recomended.

We never actually booked to stay here. We had intended to stay at a B&B in town but our reservation had been bumped. After an hour of complaining, they found us some rooms at Le Moulin de L'Epinay. Someone from above must have been looking out for us. Not only was this venue superior, but the other B&B paid the bill!

I think calling the place stunning would be overstating things. It is very pretty though and has been sympathetically restored with superior modern fixtures and fittings that complement the original stone structures. Our rooms were sited within the roof space of one of the barns. They were spacious and clean. There was no wifi. There was a kitchen area shared between our rooms. The gardens were lovely with an impressive iron cockerel. Breakfast was served in the farmhouse, was very French and served with a smile.

If we had paid, their pubished rates would have been very reasonable. I would love to stay here again and use it as a base to explore the Normandy countryside.

The grounds are situated 400m north of Neufchatel town centre and 600m from the Avenue Verte. A 2 hour bike ride from Dieppe.

What a place! I wish it was ours. We run a B and B in the UK to a very high standard and it was great to be looked after how we try to look after our guests. I could not fault this establishment. The setting is so peaceful, the scenery is incredible, the accomodation is perfect and the service supurb. Our hosts, Lynn and Duncan put their heart and souls into this place and it shows. Our room was the wheel room with a high beamed ceiling. The windows are double glazed so even though there were cows outside in a nearby field we couldnt hear them. We slept like logs. The shower was hot and plentiful thanks to solar water heating and the fittings modern. We had an evening meal with our hosts while we were there which was superb and as Duncan makes his own cider from his own cider apple orchard it would have been rude not to try it. Beautiful! About 1 1/2 hours from the channel tunnel so perfect for a weekend break but we intend to go back (when time and businesses permit) for a longer stay and see some of the many things in that region. We returned to a full B and B when we got back home but even 3 days later, still feel in ''Moulin Mood''.

We have been visiting Lynn and Duncan at Le Moulin since they started in business in 2002 and yet again they have pulled out all the stops to ensure that we have had a first class visit, The food gets better every time we go and there are always new improvements. We've read the review from the lady with children and have to say that in our experience this could not be further from our own when we have taken our children. I suspect she may have misunderstood what is meant by chambre d'hote and was expecting something a little more hotel like. I do hope others reading that review will not give it too much credence, We are looking forward to our next visit

Excellent again, this is our 5th stay and we cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience. We took our daughter and son in law who have not ventured to France before and they were enchanted by the whole experience. We absolutely adore having the table d'hote which is exceptional value for money and very sociable, everyone seems to enjoy themselves. The standard of accommodation is excellent, location so tranquil, hospitality of Lynn and Duncan is unsurpassed, the food is always something to look forward to and much of it is home grown, excellent wine and home made cider. Location and access is so easy as well and so much to see and do locally, we will go back time and time again. Lorraine & John Welshpool Powys
