We enjoyed a warm welcome and immediately saw that everything was kept scrupulously clean and tidy. We used the camper van plug-in site and enjoyed the use of all amenities for six nights.
We viewed the cottage units and have booked one for January to bring family.

We stayed two nights at in chalet No 7 in February. The chalet is well appointed with all the amenities you need to have a relaxing break after travelling from Akaroa. Unfortunately the weather was not very good (rain over Lake Brunner), but we enjoyed a great day in Hokitika and the West coast. Afterwards we relaxed on the verandah with a glass of wine whilst we enjoyed the sunset. Weka birds were visiting us most of the day too. And, make sure to bring bbq food for the evenings, as Moana has not much to supply you with. I recommend this place to anyone who likes peaceful life.

A beautiful place - with a relaxing and restful atmosphere. The quality and cleanliness of the accomodation has been one of the best we've encountered on our travels throughout the south island of New Zealand. We like walking - relaxing and good service. This place had it all. We normally don't write about places we stay at but this one is one we will recommend to our friends and family.

This is a quiet little place only 20mins drive from Greymouth, and very close to Lake Brunner, which is beautiful. The chalets are well spaced, in a nice green setting with sheep and cats and dogs around. Small but with all you need, the chalets as mentioned have all the amenities to make it easy to look after yourselves food wise, as there is not much in the way of restaurants nearby (the hotel in Moana was given a thumbs up when one chef was off, and down when he was on - unfortunately we didn't know his roster so avoided it on advice!). The one thing was that the heater is no doubt expensive to run and a bit inadequate, and can only be put on for I think 3hrs maximum, so in the winter, you are going to wake up COLD! Coming from the tropics we really felt that, but at the same time we were charmed by the sun coming through the trees in the morning and setting off a sparkling frost. We also saw the most amazing stars at night - the milky way, southern cross all beautifully clear. It really is an enchanting place, just keep the heating on!
We did a big walk around Lake Brunner as well and it's a amateur photographer's dream, as well as peaceful and interesting. I would go there again, maybe in the summer this time... :-)

Chalets are located to provide privacy and views over green areas. Accommodation comprises and entrance porch, with 2 plastic chairs, and entrance into a rectangular lounge diner, kitchen area which has a microwave and 2 ring electric plate and fridge.

Bathroom comprises wc and basin and a shower. There is a separate bedroom. The lounge has a settee and table and chairs. A 14” TV is provided. A fixed position wall heater is fitted. It is in a good location for exploring this area of South Island i.e Arthurs pass, blow holes. We found this one of the best places in our tour for bird song and bird sightings. The owner can advise where to see a good waterfall and other attractions/walks as well as free glow worm viewing.
