This is a refurbished Ansells pub, and is more a restaurant with rooms than a hotel - there are very limited "public" areas apart from the restaurant downstairs.

The rooms are very recently refurbished - or possibly completely rebuilt. Good furnishing, bathroom, and quality bedding.

The restaurant aspired to great things but just misses! Our group started with mussels; unfortunately these were warm, tough and rather stringy which is usually caused by overcooking or in this case (they weren't very hot) reheating. Instead of being just while wine, shallots and cream, the juice was (a) very hot (in the chillie sense) and (b) there wasn't much of it which, in the circum, stances was probably a good thing!

Some main courses were OK but my "lamb cutlets" came from a rather elderly animal I suspect. They were very large and, with the exception of the central meaty part close to the bone, were too tough to eat. The cauliflower cheese was excellent though.

Good selection of very well priced wine.

The owners are trying hard but some corners appear to be being cut in the chef's department which is a pity.

a warm family welcome at a recently refurbished B&B that deserves to be recommended.
well appointed, clean, tidy & spacious rooms.
Great resteraunt manned by a chef that knows how to prepare, cook & present food.
A fantastic menu with so much choice you will always find more than one dish to choose.
I cannot recommend this facility enough & will be using the services of Hayley & her hotel again.

Stayed here a week in August. A little gem just recently refurbished in the last year by the owners. Modern furnishings with good facilities and an excellent host in the name of Hayley Powell. Rooms spacious and clean whilst being well presented. Added bonus is the small bistro restaurant where all produce is locally sourced. Great stay Hayley thank you!

Stayed for an evening as we hiked the Glyndwrs Way Trail. Hayley gave us a warm welcome and ensured that we had everything we needed for a nice stay. Our room was a great size and the bed was extremely comfortable. We highly recommend the Unicorn hotel for anyone hiking the trail or visiting Llanidloes!
