Been to this pub resturant many times, the staff are very polite and the food is fresh and of a good standard.

Great beer garden and it has a good playground for kids if you have them. Food was excellent couldn't comment on the beer as I was driving :(

It is many years since we visited the SH, the modernised building is lovely and the canal side location is great on a summers day, well done to the architect for the tasteful renovations.

My wife had salmon and crawfish salad which was excellent, I had haddock and chips which was good but not excellent, the batter on the fish was slightly overcooked and the chips although not soggy were on the soft side and needed to be more crisp, am I nit-picking probably but £12 for fish and chips is not cheap so SH take note.

I chose to have a pint of ale with my meal, two real ales on offer, Spitfire and a John Courage ale, I chose the Courage but after drinking a third of the glass it lost its head and was a bit oily, the SH are proud to use lots of ingredients from Lancashire, well done, why not source the real ale from Lancashire or Merseyside there are lots of micro breweries with excellent beer.

Sorry about the gripe I hope it helps further increase standards.

The quality of the ingredients, the dishes prepared, the presentation, the service, the value for money and the location I could not fault. However the acoustics are terrible. There is a constant loud background noise even though it wasn't and nobody was overly loud

What a lovely venue. Pub alongside the Canal, sun shining, vibrant atmosphere, and a clean and modern interior. Didn't try the food, but will do in the future, because it was a pleasant place.
