We had a great stay at the Chateau and Sharon and Eddie did a marvellous job, both as tour guides and also as hosts. From the night before video to the full day of touring, including D-Day beaches and special places, to the all inclusive nature of the trip (meals were all excellent!), I would highly recommend CDB tours!

On a recent, first trip to Normandy France, we stayed at the Chateau De Beaulieu, while being given tours by its owners. I must say that the rating of excellent is hardly good enough to describe the accommodations, service, and hospitality, not to mention the tours themselves.
We arrived in Caen by train from Paris and were met there by Lt. Colonel Edward Parks of Her Majesty's Royal Marines (retired). If you think that title makes him sound stuffy, you'd be dead wrong. During our stay at his and his wife, Sharon's, chateau, we were given tours or Bayeaux Cathedral, the Bayeaux tapestry, the Caen War Museum, the D-Day beaches (Utah, Omaha, and Juno), Point du Hoc battery, St. Mere Eglise, Longues-sur-Mer battery, Mont Saint-Michel, the American cemetery, and more.
The touring was up close and personal, with just the two of us and our guide, either Colonel Eddie, or Sharon. A video presentation often preceded our outing, and a running commentary was given during the transportation portion of the tour. A folder with maps and diagrams was provided to more easily acclimate us with our destination. Both of our hosts were extremely knowledgably and answered all the questions we had, which were considerable.
Without diminishing the quality of the tour, I must say the stay at the chateau was even better. Sharon and Eddie do everything to make you feel welcome in their house. One might be inclined to describe our accommodations as a bed and breakfast, but that would be like describing Disney World as a local carnival. Our room was huge with an equally large attached bath. The bed was the size of a tennis court, and the room was nicely appointed and decorated as someone might decorate their own house. Paintings adorned the walls, and keepsakes the dressers. Oriental and Persian rugs covered the wood floors. The views of the countryside, from the large windows, were serene.
Did I mention the food and the society? All meals were included, even the ones at restaurants or cafes when touring. This included alcoholic beverages. At the château, food was served in a large dining room. Afternoon tea or drinks often preceded dinner, which included a main entrée prepared in the kitchen that day, a cheese course and desert. This was followed by coffee, often in a parlor. Conversations with our hosts were easy and informative and could wander to topics beyond our tour. We felt, during our stay, that we were visiting with some close friends, whom we knew for years. It was sad to finally have to leave on the fifth day.
The value of this package cannot be overrated. It included: transportation to/from the train station, which was many miles from the chateau; luxurious accommodations; great food; first rate touring; flexibility; and most importantly, fantastic hospitality.
Did I mention, it was darn good?

We stayed with Edward and Sharon in thier beautiful little Chateau and took a tour with Edward to Juno and Pegasus. The whole experience was fantastic. We arrived quite late in the evening and were treated to a lovely supper and a very good powerpoint presentation. The next day we explored on our own, aided by excellent advice from our hosts. Sharon gave us a cd and guide book that she had prepaired on the sites we wanted to see that was very helpful. The Chateau is perfectly situated for trips to the D day beaches, Mt St Michele and Bayeaux. The rooms were beautiful, quiet and comfortable and the food was great. Our guided to trip to Juno and Pegasus was amazing, we learned so much. Prepair to be amazed and book more time than you think you will need- my only regret is that we didnt stay longer.

Sharon and Edward Parks personally conducted a wonderful full day tour for 10 of us from our cruise ship. They were absolute professionals and it was well worth the cost. Their personal insight and attention to detail made it a wonderful day. I only wish we had the time to stay at thier Chateau. Our stops at the American beaches, cemetary and Museums gave us a greater appreciation for what our troops faced. Edward's military experience provided even greater insight. WE would go back again and this time stay with them at their Chateau.

We took a 1 day tour with Eddie of Utah and Omaha beaches, the US Airborne museum, and the Normandy American cemetery. He was very accommodating for booking the tour on very short notice for 6 adults and a baby. We had an unbelievable day, and learned a lot (even the history teacher in our group). We paid a very modest price for a private tour. Eddie is extremely knowledgeable, and had great visuals of how the beach landings were supposed to happen and how they actually happened.
