“Lovely place but...”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

Great location, lovely house, food was very tasty but my wife had three courses (unheard of) and we left still hungry hence the rating, would have rated it as Good if it was available to be honest. A case of style over substance I feel. Shame because it would have been Excellent otherwise.

“You could be in for a long wait”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The restaurant has a policy of not taking table bookings. We went there for lunch recently to be told that we would have to wait two hours for a table. We had a choice either to wait so that they could sell us lots of drinks to pass the time or leave . We opted for the latter and went to Seckford Hall where we had a fantastic meal in comfort.

I would advise potential customers to ring Milsoms in advance to see if there is a wait so you don't have a wasted journey

“Afternoon tea a little disappointing”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Visited Milsoms, Kesgrave, a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon for 'Afternoon Tea'. The surroundings and place itself are lovely, and the staff very helpful, but, you are seated around a very low table which did make it a little difficult and uncomfortable to eat, you end up balancing plates on your knee and this does spoil it. The cake selection was lovely, the coffee/tea/water refills constantly topped up, but the sandwiches were just boring. It would have been lovely to see a more rustic looking bread, and sandwiches with a better choice of fillings. They were very plain, with no salad garnish. When I asked for a vegetarian option for my friend, the best they could come up with was plain cheese, we could not have tomatoes because they were needed for the evening meals! A little more imagination/presentation would have been appreciated.

“Consistently Excellent”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

My wife and I went back to Kesgrave Hall last Friday,11 April, to celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary. Based on past experience we were confident it would be a great night and from arrival at the bar to the point of leaving, it lived up to expectations as ever. Needless to say, the food was excellent (recommend the whitebait starter) but it's equally the service that makes these kind of occasions so special - easy-going and friendly but underpinned by unwavering professionalism and attention to customer satisfaction. In that context, a special accolade to Oliver Heath and a warm thank you to Joanne and Katie (together with the member of staff we first spoke to when we arrived and served us our first drink - sorry I didn't ask your name). Well done all.
