I was in Peenemunde this weekend with a friend for the 70th anniversary of the RAF raid on the V2 facility.
Unfortunately due to a catalogue of delays we arrived very very embarrassingly late from the airport in Berlin (almost 3 hours drive - we'd totally miscalculated). But the hotel owner stayed up for us, and then made us coffee and sandwiches at an ungodly hour of the morning.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the Peenemunde museum, and pretty much next door-but-one to the remains of the V2 liquid oxygen facility. The hotel owner is such a nice guy, and behind the check-in desk are framed photographs of Wernher von Braun and various V2s - how cool is that!. Plus the bed was so comfortable I drifted off every night within 5 minutes and woke up ready to face the day. Breakfasts are good with a big choice, the hotel is impeccably clean and there is ample parking.
Heartily recommended. Ten out of ten.More
