Recently spent a weekend at Naggar. Good location, away from the maddening Manali crowd.

Hotel castle is beautifully located, just a short uphill walk from Naggar bus station. We stayed in River view suite, no private balcony, but a long common one for the three rooms on that side. the view is breathtaking, we spent one whole evening sitting and staring at the tiny traffic lights on the other side of the river and mountain peaks! Rooms are a bit pricey, then you pay for the heritage value I suppose. Staff were friendly and service was good. Food was just above average, not so much praise worthy as some of the other reviews.

Because the castle is open for visitors during day time, it was very crowded, specially since it was tourist season. There is a wooden gate protecting the walkway to the suit with 'private' sign, but some tourists are very curious! Dont imagine spending day time in the castle. You dont really have to actually! Just a kilometer uphill there is Roerich memorial and nearby is the Urusvathi museum. The museum grounds are beautiful, spotted with benches and large trees. The stairs are pretty steep and most tourists are in such a hurry to cover their checklist that the place was not crowded compared to Roerich house. So grab a homemade style sandwich from Ragini cafe (German Bakery) next to the castle and spend a peaceful day at the Urusvathi grounds relaxing!

Tips:

1. There is no AC or fan in the rooms, so it could feel a bit stuffy during warm weather.
2. Do not buy bottled water from the hotel, it is expensive compared to the little shops outside.
3. Lunch time could be very crowded with the visitors. There was 'himachali buffet' downstairs and a la carte upstairs, dont miss the wonderful view from restaurant's upstairs balcony.
4. Breakfast and dinner was buffet. I am not sure whether dinner buffet is the regular practice. Verify and if it is buffet, try to avoid because it was disappointing! Look for other options like the little pizza place around the corner.

Room Tip: Her Highness, River view, Greenfield View, Fozal Peak Suits have excellent views with limited day time disturbance.

A nice place to relax overlooking river Beas and Kullu valley and having a wide view of snow capped Dhauladhar range upto Rohtang pass.
A nice heritage building of wood and stone structure; lot of carved wood in galleries. Large balconies and adequately big rooms. It indeed gives one a feel of royalty. Restaurant is pretty good offering buffet as well as a la carte. No bar. An ancient temple of Jagat patti in the courtyard. Large lounge.
Temples of Tripurasundari, Vishnu in the vicinity and of Krishna about 20 minutes walk uphill. A visit to Roerich Art gallery 4 kms away. A visit to Pavahari Baba's cave can be made in 1 hour to & fro.
Prices are on higher side but rewarding.

Room Tip: There are various suites. most of them are good. Courtyard suite doesn't have a good view; avoid it.

Great place to be as a visitor and to stay too offcourse. Amazing architecture of stone and wood [no cement :) ]. The view was awesome. Rooms were clean and food was good. I liked local trout roasted beside the usual meals. Need to be quite in your conduct to really enjoy the peaceful amibience. If you have kids then you would need to manage them well to keep them away from making noise and thumping around. Around castle are lot of things to see on foot like ancient temples of Vishnu, Tripura Sundari etc. A good stay of 2-3 days long would be a all-purpose break for sure.

Room Tip: All rooms are good and Fozal Peak room has great view.

WOW ... is the only thing I can say !!!

Though we had booked the River View Suite on the top most floor, after seeing the Royal Suite - we decided to move in there, which was a Duplex Room. Though there were a few minor flaws initially, but they were addressed immediately. Breathtaking view from the private balcony especially in the evening and superb infrastructure and beautiful ambiance with one of the best chef in it "

Pros
- Amazing place to stay
- Neat, clean rooms and the toilet too.
- Tasty Food, every single dish ordered was amazing
- Old heritage building, but very well maintained.
- A bite in the restaurant is a MUST, from he 1st floor, balcony ONLY.
- Honeymooners should look at staying at such romantic places

Note :- This place is just 20 Kms from Manali - so it's just an hour driver from the crowded Manali Town.

Cons :-
- Approach road, not good
- Too many curious visitors who visit the place and have access to most of the places - can at times ruin your stay.

A MUST DURING YOUR TRIP TO MANALI !!!!

Room Tip: River views rooms are the best. A bite in the restaurant is something you should not miss.
