“Excellent base for exploring the beauty of the Wye Valley”
Reviewed June 15, 2009

Excellent base for exploring the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. Our hostess, Caroline, could not do enough for us to guide us to the really interesting places of the area. Her breakfasts were an ideal preparation for the touring that we did - both for the calorie-conscious and the weight watchers of our party and her garden was an ideal place in which to lounge in to watch the sun go down especially with a jug of Pimm's from the pub next door. The rooms we used were well-equipped for our purpose. We will return !!!

We used Lea House as a base for 3 days of glorious walking in the Wye Valley area. It's a lovely house with a welcoming and knowledgeable host in Caroline, comfortable and clean rooms and very good breakfasts to set you up for the day ahead. I heartily recommend a visit - and it's a good, easily accessible location for walking the area too.

We stayed with two other sets of friends and had a great time. Caroline is an excellent host who gave us a very warm welcome. The house is an old coaching Inn and full of character. The bedrooms are very comfortable and there is a lovely lounge/dining room with an open fire. The breakfast was super with a large choice. We stayed for evening meal the first night and were treated to delicious home cooking. There isn't a licence but Caroline is happy for guests to bring their own wine and will chill your drinks in the 'fridge.

We used the house as a centre for walks in the Wye valley. Caroline knows a lot about the area and can recommend places to visit and to eat. Although on the A40 south of Ross, the road isn't particularly busy here and we weren't conscious of the traffic. There is a pub next door with real ales.

A very warm welcome was extended by Caroline, who goes out of her way to accommodate your needs. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet and the accommodation is in a great location for walking or visiting Ross on Wye or the more attractive town of Monmouth.
There is a pub almost next door that serves a good pint. They serve food which is basic but just what you need after a day's walking.

I stayed at Lea House for a couple of nights after Easter with my ten year old daughter and my dog, and I would strongly recommend it. Caroline is a friendly, welcoming and informative host, the rooms are attractive and clean, the breakfast is delicious and the location good. I'd never been to the Forest of Dean and it turns out to be full of things to do and see. I shall certainly make a return visit sometime soon.

Lea House is set in a pretty village, with quite a few rooms, and a beautful garden. The rooms are very clean, and tidy. The food is excellent which included breakfast, and you can have evening meals, which I can recommend. Alot of the produce was homegrown, and homemade which is even better! The owner made guests/dogs very welcome!

We have just spent a 3 day Easter weekend break at Lea House. We cannot

speak too highly of the welcome by Caroline ( and Cocoa the dog). The

accommodation and meals were perfect and worthy of 5 star rating.

Thank you, Caroline, for looking after us so well. We can certainly recommend

Lea House as one of the best B&B’s.
