We've just returned from 5 nights at Chateau de Rouillon where we were made to feel extremely welcome by the lovely Peggy and Jean-Jacques. The house is simply beautiful - big, sunny rooms full of lovely pieces of furniture which have been hand-picked by Peggy and Jean-Jacques to create a sumptuous yet still homely feel.

During our stay Peggy was always on hand to advise on where to eat, places to visit etc and if you just want to sit and read in the drawing room that's fine too. She even drove us to the local market one day pointing out where to get the best produce etc.

The banks of the river Seine are, literally, across the road from the Chateau and there are ideal areas for having a picnic with some lovely local cheese and a bottle of wine.

Chateau de Rouillon is well located for visiting Fontainebleau, Vaux le Vicomte etc AND you can take the train direct into Paris (approx 30 minute train ride).

We'd definitely go back and have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place to others.

Stayed four nights at the Chateau de Rouillon. It was amazing. Lots to do locally, music festivals, fountainbleau, vaux-le-vicomte, markets, and the french countryside. The accomadation was great - we had a suite with a living area and a bedroom. Lots of room compared to Paris. Peggy was a great hostess, and breakfast was nice with homemade jam. Would absolutely stay again.

My wife and I stayed two nights. Beautiful room with enormous bath room, though no shower. The furnishings are beautiful. The grounds are lovely. And Peggy, the owner, could not be more helpful. Her two dogs are delightful, particularly Enzo.. Breakfast was good in a beautiful dining room. The living room is also stunning. This huge building houses only four guest rooms! Easy drive to Fontainebleau. When you drive up to Peggy's chateau, your jaw will drop. It's stunning.

Room Tip: Let Peggy guide you.

What a great place! We arrived on a rainy but humid day in August and were warmly met by Peggy the owner and her 2 dogs. Had asked for the Louis XIV suite but were told that was booked so were given the regent "chambre" (actually another suite) and were more than satisfied. Plenty of tastefully chosen and arranged period furniture in a spacious (we have a baby with her own travel cot) 2 room+bathroom mini apartment reached by a sweeping statue-lined staircase.
This isn't Versailles but rather a cosy little manoir by the main road through Chartrettes, which is hardly even on the map.

One concern was that there might not be anywhere to eat on a Sunday night. Needn't have worried as Peggy booked us a table at the Marine restaurant (recommended) on other side of the footbridge across the Seine (10 min walk). Closed Monday and Tuesday though.

Splendid French breakfast next morning in the Salon.

Only thing: there's no doorbell as such and the gates are closed so make sure you bring a phone to call to be let in (otherwise you have to resort to yelling from the street...like some late-arriving Americans did!)

We stayed in this fantastic little chateau for one night and would dearly have loved to stay longer. Peggy the hostess was lovely and the room we stayed in (suite Louis XV ) was superb.

The room was very very spacious and very well presented. The private bathrooms were also fantastic with his and hers basins etc.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and comprised of pastries with the drink of your choice. We were asked the night before what we wanted to eat so I imagine that Peggy would have served us something else had we requested it.

Conveniently located near the Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte and Fontainebleau and located approximately 1hr from Paris.
