we had the perfect lunch! started with a delightful bottle of Cava recommended by our host, a charming lady and wife of the chef. the place has few hours of operation, owners want a life and why shouldn't they as what they create is perfection. starters were cod carpiccio, so fresh and delicate and drizzled with the most flavorful olive oil. next were calcots, in season so out timing is good, sauteed with mushrooms and foie gras (just a little) and covered in almonds. last was the best monkfish i have ever had. lightly fried (eating in spain has made me loose my fear of fried foods) and accompanied with a couple shrimp and a flavorful sauce. Finally a out of this world dessert of thick chocolate scooped to look like ice cream with bread crumbs, olive oil and salt. DESLISH! can't wait to go back!

We were very surprised to find the restaurant full during a lunchtime in January. It is a great testament to the quality of food. We had a perfect lunch; and we were thrilled when, having said that we would be sharing all courses, they took the trouble to divide all the meal and present us with separate plates of food. In effect we had a five course meal for the price of three courses. Brilliant. The quality of the monkfish and pork was outstanding and everything was beautifully presented. Charming helpful staff. One of the outstanding meals we have had in Spain. Thank you Amelibia - we'll be back!!

If you are looking for authentic local food with a view and amazing service, this is the place to go. Amelibia is a favorite among locals, that’s how we found out about it. The wine list is extensive and they have daily specials depending on what’s fresh. Very recommended.

Lovely restaurant with beautiful views. The food was delicious. Fish soup- 12euro , very brothy with a couple shrimp and pieces of fish is the N Spanish way. Very complex and tasty. Escalivada- 16 euro, warm veggie dish with pork and shrimp. Never heard of it and happy I tried it. Excellent. Ox tails 17 euro were nice with a professional sauce. My wife and I ordered one of each to share. After the escalavida, my wife said she thought they we accidentally ordered two of each dish. After the oxtails, we knew we had miscommunicated with them. Upon receiving the bill, we had not. Those were very large portions that they gracefully and kindly split. Wow. Bottle of excellent wine that the owner chose for us 14 euro. This is a very nice meal. Go and then go again the next day!

Laguardia is the capital of Rioja Alavesa and if you are staying here or just doing day tours of some wineries, I highly suggest that you stop here for lunch. Excellent, fresh and locally (Basque region) sourced food, I suggest trying whatever they have seasonally. The sauteed hongos (wild mushrooms) were the best that we had while on holiday and the merluza (hake) was cooked perfectly! The staff was knowledgeable and professional giving top notch service. Ask for a table by the window when reserving, as the views look down on the vineyards and the Ebro river.
