Old world wine making preserved in this nice little family run bodega. Tasty wine. the tour was informative and the lady was very friendly and patient with my questions. More than anything , La guardia itself is must see. Very cool. there are over 300 bodegas under this medieval town. (not all used for wine, some used as dinning rooms for restaurants). **The bodega at El Fabulista would be a great place to host a small event. Enjoy!

As a small family run winery, the tour is very friendly and personal. Our tour guide was absolutely delightful, and the Reserva was one of the best that we picked up during that trip. We sure wish it was available here in the States. It was easy to get a tour in English, even during the off season. It added to a overall wonderful experience in the town, and we would love to go back again.

This was our first wine tour in Alava and we enjoyed starting with the traditional, old world style of winemaking. Our host was extremely friendly and entertaining. We particularly enjoyed getting the see the lower level of the winery and the all of the chambers. We would not have even stopped here were it not for our hotel offering to call for arrangements. It was very easy to arrange a visit on the hour.

We had visited Ysios and Marques de Riscal - so this was totally different. Small, family-run bodega in the heart of the medieval village of Laguardia. We had a really informative tour and the wine tasting at the end was great!

El Fabulista is a neat little bodega within the walls of Laguardia that offers a very informative English-language tour. It is really different than the big, modern wineries that populate the Rioja region. We didn't love the wines (and with their flashy labels, they are clearly marketed to tourists) but this was definitely a neat little place to see in sleepy Laguardia. I only gave it 3 stars because we visited 5 wineries on our visit to Laguardia/Rioja (including Carlos San Pedro, also located within the walls of Laguardia), and this was our least favorite.
