“Great Dinner and Hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

We wandered into los Parajes late at night in rainstorm after a long days drive, exhausted and starved. It was Monday so other eateries were shut. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and manager, and turned over to our waited Roberto. His service and the food were outstanding. The best suckling pig ever! Roberto recommended a Bai Gorri Crianza, a perfect match. He offerered to have a salad prepared that was not on the menu and it was great as well. We stayed elsewhere given prior plans, but next time will stay in the hotel upstairs. Roberto showed us several of the room and they look sumptuous and quiet. Each morning we stopped by for a coffee and chat with Jean Michelle, the bar manager, a gentlemen, and watched the clock dancers emerge. What fun. Our time in Laguardia was greatly enhanced by our time at los Parajes

We stayed one night and felt sad when we had to leave. It is an exceedingly charming place and very comfortable. The interior decor of the hotel and rooms is very charming, and service was impeccable. Food was excellent too, both at dinner and breakfast. It was the most attractive spread during our 3 week stay in Spain.

It has an ancient cellar where you can have a welcome drink and tapas, and dinner if you like. There is a very cosy lounge as well, but our room was so comfortable we didn't want to leave.

Whilst you can't drive the car right up to the hotel, Laguardia is a small place, so you can park outside the city wall and walk in. Everything in Laguardia is within walking distance.

I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever in Laguardia.

This wonderful boutique hotel is located right in the middle of Laguardia, that is, inside the old walled city where you are not able to take your car. It was not too difficult to find, however, as it takes only 15 or 20 minutes to walk the whole city. We were first greeted by a very friendly porter, who surprisingly spoke very good English thanks to a stint working on a cruise ship.Upon check in, we were given two free tickets to a wine tasting in their on site cellar and then given a personal tour of the hotel and escorted to our room. The room is first class with the four poster king sized bed beautifully presented with drapes and shiny brass angels looking over the bed head. The bathroom features the very latest in quality sanitary fittings. A beautiful room.

We took advantage of the wine tasting situated two floors below the ground. We took the modern elevator which delivered us to a tunnel in which there was a fully serviced wine bar. We were each given a fine glass of good 'vino tinto' and were invited to explore the tunnel system further and after reaching the end, some 80m further on, we were totally amazed by how well the owners had completed the fit out of this cellar, a restored ancient tunnel system dating back to the town's establishment. The wine was also excellent and we spent some time here enjoying the wines and the ambiance.

The also ate in the hotel's excellent restaurant, probably the most expensive in town, but we enjoyed it so much the cost did not matter. Breakfast, included in the tariff, was served one floor below ground and was extensive and of very good quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this first class hotel and would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Room Tip: Enjoy the whole place, i don;t believe they have a bad room.

We had two weeks with the excitment of Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona and we ended our vacation in Hospederia de los Parajes, where we had three days on full bliss. The owner and her son treated us like royalty, and by this, they made us feel welcome and went out of their way to make us feel special. Our room faced the city courtyard and it was big and beautifully appointed. There were so many special details with the culmination of a round jacuzzi tub. In the morning I could feel the warm tiles under my feet. The sheets on the bed were snowy white and silky. A thirsty robe awaited me after my bath and then breakfast with fresh sqeezed orange juice, the best tasting eggs with rich yellow yokes, jamon iberico, cheeses, fresh fruit with a white melon that was sweet and juicy, little empanadas filled with sweet squash and delicious bread and pastries local to the area. We had dinner at the restaurant two nights in a row. The ingredients were fresh and local, the taste of each dish was superb and the service was excellent. The patatas a la Rioja, snails, esparagus, baby lima beans with blood sausage, slow cooked pork and so many other delicious dishes it was hard to leave and go home. Laguardia is the ideal spot to stay if you want to drive around Rioja. The vistas from the top of the hill sweep thru the entire valley and one can see the quilt like patterns of the vinyards and the gorgeous mountains capped with snow during our stay. Miguel, Charo and Andrea, the proprietor, son and daughter will hold a special place in my heart and the memory of this place will stay with me forever. Mary k, Los Angeles, california

After researching every village and hotel in La Rioja, selecting the combination of Laguardia and this hotel was a winner. First, the staff is outstanding, just amazing. After the first morning's breakfast, my second cup of coffee always appeared just as I was ready for it! The breakfast itself was superb, probably the best breakfast we have enjoyed at a hotel. We tried to dine elsewhere in the evening but always made our way back to the hotel where Jean-Marie treated us like royalty and selected an excellent wine for us to enjoy with our dinner each night. The hotel has a wide selection of types of meals from which to choose - from complete menus to a la carte items to lighter fare. Our room was large and comfortable with restful colors and beautiful decoration. The bed was wonderful and the shower, bathroom and dressing areas luxurious. The lounge on the second floor is perfect for finding a quiet place to read or just relax with a glass of wine. We could not have been happier.

The modern hotel located on the main square in Laguardia was wonderful was our home for our two nights in La Rioja. Our king-sized-bed equipped, spacious suite overlooked the plush, art decorated second floor lounge and up to the skylight. The glass enclosed shower open to the room and marble bathroom were beautiful and the heated floor helped with the cool February weather. We were well-received and taken care of by the staff and owner on check-in. The elevator took us to the 3rd floor where a glass-floored catwalk over the lounge took us to our room. We had a wonderful evening of tapas and wine in the subterranean cellar bar housed in ancient tunnels that honeycomb below Laguardia. Our bar hostess was generous with wine and olive oil tastings enabling us to select an olive oil to purchase. Staff of the hotel helped us select two wineries to visit the next day, one located within the village. The second evening we dined on pizza and wine in the lobby bar after a full day of wine tastings and touring in La Rioja and Laguardia. We enjoyed two excellent breakfasts in the well-appointed breakfast room whose glass floor looked down on the cellar bar we enjoyed the first night in Laguardia. The hotel has a personal feel and the staff and owner made us at home. Parking and getting luggage to and from parking which is outside the walls of the village was the least satisfactory. We would highly recommend the hotel.

First beware arrive early for two reasons, firstly parking can be a chore , secondly because you will regret not spending every moment possible in a superb hotel and wonderful town.
We happened to stay for my birthday and they kindly laid on some bull running! As someone in the trade it can be too easy to notice the little things some miss but here I found myself immersed in another world where pleasure and luxury flowed.
Thank you madam owner and family and team for a perfect stay
