Amazing building, give yourself time to walk around outside before the tour. Informative tour, interesting production method but a bit cold and sterile in comparison to other wineries. Excellent guide who then took us to this amazing room upstairs in the front of the building for our wine tasting. The views were stunning and there were lounges and tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your wine and help yourself to more!

Stunning landscape and architecture from Calatrava, combined with excellent and unique wines from really passionate wine makers!

Before our trip to the Rioja region I knew that there were a few visually stunning Bodegas that I wanted to see, Ysios being one of them. We had no idea that they had a tour, or even if it was going to be open to visitors. We drove up, took pictures, milled around for a bit and then saw others going inside. We walked in and were greeted warmly and asked if we were here for the 12pm English speaking tour. We said that we were, and she asked if we had a reservation, even though we didn't, we were still able to go (Cash only). The tour was a good tour, but if you've been to one winery/brewery/distillery you've seen them all kinda. Their process is a little more forward thinking though. The aging process was something new and interesting to me, and we were also told how it is 100% Tempranillo grapes that Ysios uses, yet the aging and barreling process can produce 4 totally different wines. The Tour ends with a tasting of 5 wines,(plus some nuts, crackers and sausages) 3 of which we ended up buying because they were that good, unique and will age well. The Tour guide was great, my girlfriend explained her as someone that you just are so intrigued with that you hang on her every word.
This was one of the best winery tours that I have done worldwide, and well worth the drive to this small town!

First of all, make sure you confirm your tour reservation if you book via E-mail. When we arrived, the woman who worked there explained that she never received our confirmation (which was sent but must not have gone through for whatever reason). She wanted to make it clear to us that we would not have been able to do the tour if it had already been full, which it was not. She came across as slightly rude and condescending, but not sure if this was a cultural/language barrier issue. We did end up being "allowed" to tour for the set cost of 12 euro/person.

If walking from Laguardia, be prepared for about a 15 minute walk with amazing views.
Overall, the winery was beautiful to look at from the outside with a more industrial look inside. the wine itself was good, but they only make Reserva wine so be prepared to spend a little more money if purchasing a bottle there. I'd say this bodega is worth a visit for the architecture alone, even if you just go to see the outside.

We went in october, the weather was great and could see the grapevines loaded with fruit (they are collecting the grapes this time of year). The visit was nice, and the building is impressive work by Calatrava.
