The service of the owners, John and Maria was exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable tho I wish the bathroom were a little bigger. The balcony was nice and large. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh bread was beautiful. With breakfast and wifi included, it was great value for money.
Maria has a lovely shop next door with beautiful dresses, clothing and gifts for which you get a discount as a hotel patron. Location is THE BEST. We loved our stay at the Hotel Rachel!

Room Tip: We asked for a sea view

My girlfriend and I have been in Europe since the 18th of May, and yet still our favorite moments have been from our stay at Rachel Hotel on Aegina. For what we paid (it is still the least expensive out of our whole trip) the hotel was above and beyond what we expected. The area is really nice, and it is about a 30 second walk to the beach. The hotel itself was really nice too, and the room was properly cleaned everyday, which was good because we had a lot of sand come back with us a few nights. The breakfast was decent, and no complaints at all because it was included in the price. At some places they would have charged us half the room rate just for the same type of food (yes thats how inexpensive our room was). The best part of the whole stay was getting to meet the owners John and Maria. They are a brother-sister combo that run the place themselves, and they did an amazing job at making us feel welcome. They told us when we arrived to feel at home and to use the place as we want, including using the plates, silverware, glasses, etc that are used for breakfast. Not only that, but they actually made us feel as if we were family by the end of our trip. It was extremely sad to have to leave, as the place itself is nice, but John and Maria are awesome! We spent a good amount of time talking to Maria and learning about Greece and herself, which was really interesting. At the end of our trip, John even drove us right to the dock of the harbor so that we could catch our ferry back to Piraeus. Not only that, but he carried our backpacks onto the ferry too! The two of them are so nice and welcoming that they alone would be a reason to come back and stay, but the hotel and town are great too! If ever in Europe again, the majority, if not all, of our stay will be at the Rachel Hotel in Agia Marina! Thank you Maria and John, can't wait to see you two again!

We were a party of 2 adults and 2 young teens having a Whit week break. We chose Aegina for it's proximity to Athens for a quick transfer from the airport, but also to visit Athens to see the sights, and chose Aghia Marina for the beach, Hotel Rachel for the price and proximity to said beach. Excellent on all counts! The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms kept so also. Breakfast more than ample, juice tea, coffee, all sorts of cereals and jams, bread cake and gorgeous chocolate/cinnamon biscuits, also eggs cheese and ham.
Beach about 1 minute away literally, lovely. Enough tavernas to choose from in the town and down by the tiny harbour by the sea. You can get a ferry to Piraeus from there, about 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The welcome from John and Maria (brother and sister) and their daily interest and good humour was an added bonus. For the price we paid we honestly had no complaints. Planning to come back next year, but without the kids!

Nice people, superb view, stand-up services, good location, near-by beach.

Direct route from Athena (the ferryboat station is two minutes away from Rachel Hotel )

The room and the bathroom are small (for 2+1/2 people) but the services are more than excellent.

John and Maria seemed to be effortless to make our stay great, eager to help you up whatever your needs were: rent a car, guide us thorough the island, gave us discount at Maria’ shop and at the nearby restaurant (nice view and very friendly waiters, they showed us how they fish and the next day we enjoyed the “result” as a very tasty lunch , for free!) etc.

We had a very nice holiday at the Maria and John’s hotel, and we plan to come back soon!

Not only the quality/price ratio is excellent, the human quality of John and Maria, the brothers who rule the hotel, is even more remarkable. Just to mention a detail, we were about to miss the bus to Egina when John decided to carry us to the bus stop in his own car.
Things like that make travelling a pleasure.

We came to Aegina in the off-season so the town was a bit empty but Hotel Rachel was completely booked! The sibling co-owners are so friendly it's like staying with family. Location is perfect, there is a 50ft sand path to the beach directly out the back door of the hotel and amazing ocean-view restaurants just down the street. Extremely safe and welcoming, and you cannot beat the prices! Definitely recommended
