I was there for a week in September and really enjoyed my stay. The location is brilliant and the family who own and run the place are extraordinarily nice and helpful.

this is heaven on earth. Irene and Nico are the friendliest and most hospitable hosts we have met. Their place is clean and well stocked, their home is our home, we felt like family. Trip downtown to the shops (also friendly and helpful), no problem, Nico or Irene will drop you there at your convenience - and collect you too. Certainly as others have said not flash but who needs that with all the heart here. Added bonus - views to die for, with no crush of other tourists either.

Beautiful location, but the place is not set up for for out of season guests. We went in February, just after the first snowfall in 25 years. The room was freezing when we arrived and bed and towels were damp from cold. The kitchen had a fridge & 2 rusting hotplates, but no plates, no cutlery, no cooking utensils except 1 pot and no light (the only lightbulb blew when I switched it on and despite pointing it out to the owner, it wasn't replaced). And I doubt that the electrical wiring would pass building regulations in the UK - the hot plate was wired straight into the mains.

We have visited more than ten Greek islands over the years. This year we found Kavos Bay on Aegina on the internet and decided to go there. The pictures and descriptions on the net looked so good that we wanted to see if it could be true.

Kavos Bay is by no comparison the best place we have stayed at in Greece (or in any other country). The owners, Nicos & Ireni and their three daugthers are running the hotel with their hearts. Staying at Kavos Bay is like being at home away from home. We stayed 13 nights and travelled with out 4 year old son, and we all had a great time.

The hotel is functional and clean and has a wonderful view from the rooms and from the terrace. It's obvious though, that the hotel was built years ago, and if you're looking for a 5-star chain hotel in glass and hot metal you've come to the wrong place. All rooms are with fridge, aircondition and tv, but no telephone or internet.

Kavos Bay is family run, it's peaceful, it's located in beautiful surroundings (see our pictures). The service of Nicos & Ireni is beyond the call of duty. They will take the guests to and from Ag. Marina in their mini-bus several times at day. Ireni cook like no-one has cooked for us before in Greece.

We have to mention that the hotel is situated approx 1+ km from the town and the last 500m of the road is not paved. It makes the drive in the mini-bus with Nicos great fun, and our kid simply loved the trip each time we went forth and back. We have seen on the internet that some people complain about the bad condition of the road, but if you've travelled in Greece before you will know that the best places are off the beaten track and they can be a bit difficult to find on your own. Such a place is Kavos Bay, and taken there in the safe hands of Nicos or Ireni it's just the place you would like to stay for a long time.

A place to return to!

Kavos Bay Hotel is a very friendly, family-run hotel which provided a delightful base for our family (2 teens and one 8 year old). Some minor technical problems do occur (lights cutting out) but these are made up for by the relaxed atmosphere and lovely location. Breakfast is good and healthy, evening cuisine is modest and reasonably priced - with occasional free offerings from the management..

The walk way to the rocks in front of the hotel is in a poor state following storms but a 4 minute walk takes you to the small pebble beach. This is fine as a starting off point, relatively safe on the feet, for some fine snorkelling nearby.

The clientele proved to be very international and friendly.

Transport to town (Agia Marina) is provided faily regularly by the hotel

This place is an absolute paradise location. The rooms are basic but with all necessary facilities and full sea-view balconies. Anthoula and Yiannis (owners) are very friendly and anxious to offer you the best service possible. Traditional Greek atmosphere.
