“Very convenient for transport and very comfortable”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

Yet another well organised small Swiss hotel, spot on for transport - right next to the railway station (but with no noise!). Well appointed rooms (very LOW beds) and a delicious assortment at breakfast. The staff were also charming and very helpful. I like hotels that have umbrellas to borrow when it rains! WiFi worked well and the training facilities were first rate. We'll be back!

Room Tip: If you want a nice view, ask for a high floor

We had a room facing the business conference centre next door which had beautiful trees. The room also had views of the lake and the railway station. I expected it to be a bit noisy but it was very quiet. The hotel is very funky and we expected it to be completely impractical. Wrong!. It was extremely comfortable and very practical (despite the Phsyco shower curtain :-)). Since there are some very close cafes and bakeries nearby we didn"t sample the breakfasts. The hotel is worth considering if staying in Zurich as it is only 7 mins by train and a very pleasant 25 minutes by ferry.

Room Tip: best views on lake side but others are OK.

We spent here one night as we were having dinnervwith friends who live nearby. It is a very nice hotel, rooms modern and spacious with wooden fllor. The shower is big, just a shame it has a curtain not a door. Hotel is across the street from the station if access to Zurich is important, trains run quite late at night. Interestingly, there are two sets of ear plus in the room, although we did not hear the trains at all. This is a place i woukd definately go back to if i go back to the neighborhood.

There are only two hotels in Thalwil and the other one was being renovated so we were stuck with Sedartis. This is a very basic hotel clearly built for business travelers and conveniently located across from the train station. Hit or miss with the staff, some were very sweet and helpful, others were not thrilled with having a family of 4 in their midst. I can appreciate the modern style of the hotel, my 12 year old son loved the architecture, design and lighting. I would have appreciated a better price than we were offered for the number of nights we stayed and, in the end, we opted to move out to Zurich for some more flavor and fun at essentially the same price.
The hotel was clean, breakfast was adequate and I have no complaints, just wish I had something to compare it to!

Close to the railway station (noisy if your room faces that way...) the Sedartis has good spacious rooms, well equipped, free of charge high speed internet. If you're lucky to be on the lake side, the view is breath taking.
But the restaurant is just amazingly good. The view from the dining room is great, but the food is even better, and the service is quite friendly and professional. I think it was my best meal in almost 2 years of monthly travels to Switzerland.
It is not cheap (around 60 CHF without wine) but believe me...it is worth every cent!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with lake view on a high floor. They're more expensive but you'll not even bo...

Our reservation was made by our travel agent who had heard good things about the place. We arrived to find that our reservation wasn't held because our credit card was turned down. Turns out 2 numbers were reversed in translation. They had a room available that was located on the ground floor, basement level with a view of a bush. The hotel had no air conditioning and no air circulation of fresh air to our room. Very clean, oddly configured room, not very comfortable beds and flat, feather pillows, that held no shape nor gave support. Neither my traveling partner nor I felt comfortable in the room and checked out the next day. Over rated by my standards. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating.
Thalwil is a lovely little town with good restaurants and nice shops. All of Switzerland is very expensive. Go with that knowledge. Cleanest country I have visited. My personal experience does not represent the experience of others. Try anything once.

Room Tip: Ask for better supporting pillows. The U.S. dollar doesnt go very far. $57.00 CH for $100.00 U.S. Fo...
