The service is polite and discreet, the food is delicious and whilst the setting is a bit odd, it is really friendly. If you want high class furnishings and trappings, this isn't the place for you. However, if you want excellent food, cooked to order and with each dish tasting fresh and full of flavour, Hin's is well worth a visit. It's very reasonable to boot.
We've been looking for a decent Chinese restaurant for some time - and here it is!

Good pub with decent real ale. Clientele very local and cliquey; Silence when a starnger walks in, and the landlord could have been friendlier. The Chinese restaurant is attached to the pub, which I've never encountered before. Standard Chinese with the addition of a few dishes made with quorn for vegetarians, which was welcome to us. All in all, the impression I was left with is that tourists are welcome in the Chinese restaurant, but they'd rather the pub was locals only.

We found this pub arrangement a bit strange but it worked for us coming up from the river with our paddles etc and some of us dripping wet. We sat outside and admired the gorgeous 'dolls house like' house opposite while we dried out and tucked into scampi and chips or sweet and sour or Tuna mayo panini. All beautifully presented with plenty of salad for colour. Very efficient and helpful service. Food has to be paid for in cash but if the drinks bill is over £10 you can get cash back. We returned to the river well fortified.Thank you

The service was excellent in the restaurant; attentive when needed but also allowed our privacy.
The food was superb, very fresh and cooked to perfection. Large portion sizes that we couldn't finish so brought the rest home.
We had the set menu for £17.50pp, which was very good value for the food we received (both in quality and quantity).
The restaurant was simply decorated, but we felt that the entrance could have more obvious, though maybe that's a ploy to get you to buy a drink or two first?!
Overall a lovely meal and we really hope that the restaurant becomes well supported.

The Forge Hammer used to have the best authentic Indian restaurant in Gloucestershire, having been there and done that the Landlord has recently opened a Chinese ' Hin's Restaurant' which by all accounts seems to be heading for similar acclaim. The Forge Hammer bar still serves award winning beer with predominately a local clientel which has a lively atmosphere.
