We held our wedding reception at the Twelve in December. From the moment we arrived on Thurs evening to our departure on Sunday morning we and our guests were treated like VIPs. The customer service is second to none at the Twelve, it is 5 star service. Every member of staff from the manager, to the front desk, the bar staff, function waiting and bar staff, night porters and so on went above and beyond. I have to mention in particular Fergus (Manager), Fiona (reservations manager), Catherine (events manager), the lady on the front desk whose name I have forgotten (sorry) and the manager of the bar downstairs again whose name I have forgotten but is tall with grey hair and really looked after us at breakfast especially when I kept changing tables to chat to different people and kept the children entertained with colouring pictures which he then displays on the wall-lovey touch. We ate in the bar on the Thurs eve, had our wedding Friday and had dinner in West for a smaller group on Sat eve and every meal was superb. The wedding meal was just amazing and everyone was wowed by it. I had friends asking for the soup recipe ( bacon and parsnip) and everyone agreed the steak was cooked to perfection. But my favourite had to be dessert, we chose a trio of warm apple crumble, lemon tart and chocolate mousse and all I can say is wow. I generally don´t eat desserts and I especially find the trio of desserts at most weddings very bland (almost like they come out of a box rather than are homemade) but these were amazing-the crumble was hot, the tart zesty and the mousse rich, just perfect.
On the Sat evening we dined in West and they made up menus with our names and we had christmas crakers-it´s all these touches which really make you feel looked after as a guest.
The function room was a perfect size for our party of 68 (and a few more in the evening) and the dancefloor is a perfect size. The dancefloor is small and it was one of the things we were most concerned about when booking the hotel. Fergus assured us it would be a perfect size and he was right.
Another thing I must mention is our wedding cake which Dalma the baker in the Twelve made for us. It was something I didn´t put much thought into to be honest and I was surprised then by how much I loved it and how it is now one of my favourite things. Dalma made two tiers and my mother in law made a third tier which Dalma then iced and again it is touches ike this which show how the hotel goes that extra mile. Oh and it was delicious too!
The rooms at the Twelve are something else which sets it apart, very funky with truffles, choc dipped strawberries, flapjack and a wecome card on arrival-lovely touch. Ipod docking stations in each room, mood lighting in the bathrooms and bathrobes and slippers to use during your stay not to mention the fab voya products in the bathrooms. The suites are fab with bars and couches and plasma tvs and I got ready in one of the suites which was great as we had loads of room for everyone to get hair and make up done and for people coming and going. We stayed in Suite X11 on the night of our wedding and the night after and all I can say is wow. Again lovely touches like rose petals on the bed.
The one thing which really struck me about the hotel is how well it caters for everyone from couples to families to children to older guests. My husbands parents want to return during the summer and we have had several couples tell us they intend to return for a break away.
I really could go on and on but will just end by saying that if you are looking for somewhere to host a smaller wedding you will not regret having it at the Twelve. I am just looking for an excuse to go back now!!!
