Stayed here for 3 nights in a family room. The room itself was perfect, the best family room we've stayed in with a separate room for the kids to sleep in along with a sink, fridge and microwave. Amazing how much these items make a difference to a stay. Excellent food and service throughout the hotel. We were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Great bar food and selection of craft beers. Only negative is the noise from cars on the road at night, but this is something they are working on to resolve I am told. Special thanks for their recommend local garage when we had car trouble. Jimmy up in Eddie Walsh's garage couldn't have been more helpful. This hotel has numerous awards on display and it is easy to see why. We look forward to returning.

We spent 6 nights in a family suite at the Twelve hotel and had a pleasant stay. Checking in was easy, quick and friendly (with nice ice tea while processing everything). The rooms were clean, tidy and spacious. Breakfast is absolutely gorgeous with very tasty croissants, pains au chocolats and pains aux raisins (I am French, I can tell you when these things taste as nice as if they were from my local boulangerie). We had dinner on several nights and I really enjoyed it: the highlight of my son's holidays was actually the chocolate and marshmallow pizza. So all good, yet bits and pieces that would need to be cared for: wifi wasn't working well (we didn't want to complain because at the end of the day you shouldn't be stuck on the internet while on holidays and on the last day it worked perfectly: they knew about it and had IT engineers working on it - so we were told when checking out - hopefully it's 100% ok now). DVD players in rooms not working properly either but we were hardly in the room during the day so again, didn't suffer from it. The corridors are really dark too - too dark to my taste.

Location is perfect - was perfect for us anyway: didn't want to be in Galway itself but close enough. We walked to the pier one evening and had dinner at a lovely restaurant there too. The small town of Barna can be busy with traffic but it's convenient to all the nice places we wanted to visit. There is also a Supervalu, a barber, a few beauty salon, hairdressers etc...

    We would recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed this hotel and area the hotel staff while busy were very attentive. We ate in the pins bar and we were very pleased with the food and the price but judging by the quality of the food there I regret that we didn't try West restaurant upstairs. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the mood lighting was a nice touch as was the ice tea on check in and shortbread and strawberries on arrival. The breakfast was also excellent on both days continental self-service and then you ordered your cooked breakfast. Perfect...

We came here for lunch today and were very impressed. Great gluten free choices for celiacs and great kids food.
The staff were lovely and didn't mind a 20 minute wait for our main courses.
Definitely recommend a meal here if you're in the area.

Spent a weekend in The twelve last weekend. I have to rate it very highly as it ticks almost all the boxes-
    -really friendly and helpful staff
    -lovely decor and perfect cleanliness
-great buzz at night with choices of restaurants on site & nice bar
-little extra touches like handmade pastry and strawberries in room on arrival with a handwritten personalized note (never get that in chain hotels!)
    -good value
    -large room with cool decor

The only negative I can think of is the location, and Im loathe to even say that because Barna is a lovely village with some nice eateries and onnellys across the road is a great bar, however , if staying anymore than one night, one is inevitably going to want to go into Galway city, which is only a few minutes away, but it seems the only way in is by taxi which is €15 each way, and just a pain in the bum. The public bus timetable is a joke-I think there's 4 buses a day!

If I were managing the twelve I would provide a regular complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel to the city, or even just one in the morning , afternoon, evening (if going in for dinner/drinks), and maybe one home at midnight. I really feel this would have a drastic effect on the numbers staying in the hotel, as it is the ONLY drawback to The twelve compared to the other much higher priced (and far lower quality) hotels in the city. Thats my two pence....otherwise- Fantastic hotel-highly recommend!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite-its massive and really cool!
