“Fantastic Fish Quality”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

I live in Hong Kong and my wife is Chinese. She is constantly amazed at how we Westerners spoil fantastic fish by frying it. Well the food here shut her up! The night we ate they had Gurnard a fish I knew from days of fishing with my dad. It is an ugly fish but most pro sea fisherman consider it the best tasting of all sea fish. However you need to cook it 'a point'. The fish was done perfectly and the accompanying veggies also cooked lightly. We were luck to find this place as we turned in looking for an ATM. One other interesting titbit about the fish is it comes from a local supplier called Ali whose shop is just down the road. Now how does a Muslim fisherman end up in Barna? Apparently Ali is highly respected for his fish and is clearly adopted by the locals. Good news for fish afficionados!! The wine list is quirky but let me down because one of the weird and interesting St Chinian wines on the chalkboard had just run out. Wines are eclectic and reasonably priced. Frankly one of the restaurant highlights of a 6 week swing through Ireland, Wales and London. Staff are young ladies who are very sweet, maybe a little inexperienced. This may explain some of the negatives. I certainly would not be going with a big group. This is for lovers!

“Pleasant evening meal”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

We had no booking but were accommodated nonetheless.

The food and service were very good, the restaurant itself was very nice, and we'd be happy to go back next time we're in the area.

Staff were helpful and friendly which is important to us when trying to dine with a baby in buggy.

“Average Dining Experience”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

We dined here last Saturday night as a party of eight. Our experience was only average, it was disappointing as myself and my girlfriend brought visitors with us and we had recommended the place. I must say the food was lovely but the service let it down. The staff were friendly but we were waiting a long time for each course and they could do with more training.

“Tasty food”
Reviewed August 6, 2014 via mobile

We brought some friends here for dinner on Saturday night. The food was very tasty but the service was very slow. Tables who were sat down after us were finished before us. Waited almost an hour for starters. The staff were nice but need further training on serving & clearing tables, the kept crossing over us to pick up and put down plates which was awkward. There is a nice atmosphere and we will go back again but I hope the service improves.

“Good food, lively atmosphere”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

This place came highly recommended by our nearby B&B and judging by the awards on the wall when you enter the restaurant - she is not the only person who likes Mulberry's.

The place was very busy, yet the service we received was first class. It was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant with no open windows or air-conditioner. My daughter had to go outside for a walk to cool off. That is why we decided to skip dessert.

The food was very good, but not excellent and one of the steaks ordered was not rare - yes, we should have sent it back but who wants the hassle of eating by yourself.

Overall, definitely worth the visit if you're passing.
Maybe we just saw all the awards and thought we would be blown away.
You decide for yourself ! :-)
