“good value and great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

All staff helpful and pleasant; food was varied and good and hotel clean
location is lovely UNLESS you want shops and lots of bars but if its a chilling week in the sun then you wont be disappointed.
very easy to get into gorgeous Ibiza town (bus outside hotel every hour on the half hour and reliable 2 euro) or 10 euro in cab or walk in 35mins
yes carpets are very tired (why not tiles?) but bathrooms nice.
Good value hotel
travelled 27th august group of 7, ages 55 to 18 probably not enough going on for the younger members

Room Tip: all rooms seem to have sea view some have 2 bathrooms and 4 beds ask if you need that

I have just come back from the playa real hotel and felt compelled to write a fair review!!

The location is great talamanca is a very quiet resort with a few lovely beach bars and restaurants!! Ten minutes deive from the airport and same for ibiza town!!overall we were really happy with the location as we wanted to relax in the day and head to a few clubs by night!! We were within walking distance of pacha and privelege!!

The beach is nice not to busy and shallow water...there seemed to be a little seaweed washed up due to a storm we had whilst there bt this couldn't be helped...no one has control over the weather or what is washed up onto the beach!!!

Rooms were spacious and clean...a little dated bt they were fine for what we wanted!!

The food was average we found there was plenty of choice for meat eaters bt not so much for vegetarians, however we all did find something to eat every day and this was not really an issue for us as we did the all inc option mainly for the drinks as we knew beforehand that this would be expensive in other places we wanted to visit!!!

The staff at the hotel all seemed very nice especially the animation team and mar the lady who runs all the activities was lovely!!!

Overall for what we paid I feel we had a bargain holiday for the time of year and would definatly visit this hotel again!!!
The new harbour club beach/restaurant down the road was also a great little place for good food and wine!!

We were a bit wary having read the reviews but just back this weekend from a fab break here. Yes the hotel is a bit tired and in need of updating up it was very clean both internally and out. It is literally on the beach with easy access to a boardwalk which takes you along in to Talamanca itself with some nice bars along the way. Yes it is quieter but that was nice - if you want a party hotel then book one! The staff were by friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. The hotel has a lovely vibe, very relaxed and chilled. Food was ok and yes there were chips ( previous review said there wasn't ) but generally good and a good variety so something for everyone. Again, if you want fine dining, book a hotel whose price reflects that. I'd go back here in a shot, it was great value for the money spent. I reckon that some of the grumpy reviews on here are people who have unrealistic expectations.

Room Tip: If you want a sea view ask for one.

Stayed at the Playa Real in June 2013.Good value hotel in a great location, right on the beach .Staff were always friendly and helpful, especially the bar and reception staff.I do agree with some of the food comments but for what you pay for the hotel if you don't really like it you can afford to eat out,or help yourself to the nice, fresh salad bar!As for the rooms, yes they are dated and so are the carpets but they are kept very clean,as is the hotel in general too, spotless. The beds weren't the comfiest but they weren't the worst either...The pool area is good with plenty of sunbeds and if you are lucky enough they have some "posher" beds in the garden area.It was really lovely walking along the boardwalk every day and evening along the beach. You can walk all the way along, passing a few good little bars and restaurants and then hop on the little boat which takes you to Ibiza town and only takes about ten minutes across the bay and this runs until about 1.30am in the morning(well,it did in June anyway).
Ibiza town itself is beautiful and we loved waking up the Dalta, old town, with amazing views when you reach the top, lots of fab restaurants there too and little cafe bars, lovely. One of of favourite nights was at Pacha(not too far from the hotel) ,Flower power night which is on Tuesdays(and for anyone who is worried about feeling too old there, don't,we are in our 40's and it was great!!).We got our tickets on-line before we travelled, about £34 each, worth every penny, but beware,26 Euro for two bottles of San Migel!!!Fab night though!!
It was cheap enough to hire a car for the whole holiday and we loved driving round the whole island, fairly easy to get around. One of my best days was walking around Los Dalios market in San Carlos, just loved the way it was set out ,just nice wandering around and not quite as busy as the Hippy market in S'Cana(although that's also worth a visit). If you do chose to hire a car just be REALLY careful where you park in front of the hotel. We thought our car had been stolen but it had actually been towed away ,along with about eight other cars. The signs were NOT clear about were you SHOULDN'T park and it cost us TWO HUNDRED EURO'S to get it back from the compound,so that absolutely ruined our last full day. After they took all the cars away they repainted the road signs, wish they had done this at the beginning of the season. We always abide by all laws and we were gutted to fork out such alot amount of money,it just felt really unjust. Also,we do think it would have been a good idea if the staff on reception had warned us at the beginning of the holiday too or even if there was just a sign on the deck we could have taken notice of,especially as the hotel car park was full every time we came back from a day out....Anyway,still it hasn't put us off and would definitely stay here again, thank you Playa Real : )

Room Tip: We requested a sea view and this was granted, however,if we hadn't have got one the other rooms f...

I feel I need to put the facts down for this place. I cannot believe how unreasonable some people are in their reviews for this hotel. I just got back from a week here and had a great time. The hotel location is fantastic, right on the beach so you can sunbathe by the pool and then go for a dip in the sea. This is great cause you don't have to pay for sun loungers on the beach. The staff were great, helpful and despite reception being constantly busy always had time for you. The hotel is very clean and the bathrooms are very spacious. When you check out and have a late flight they have a room you can use for a shower before you head to the airport. The room was cleaned whenever we asked. Despite it being high season we always managed to get a sun lounger (only just though when we got there at 2pm).

People on here have said a number of things and I would like to put the record straight. Firstly, that the carpets are old dirty and smelly. Not true at all, yes they are old and a bit worn but they are clean and do not smell. The rooms are perfectly adequate. The beds are perfectly comfortable, yes a bit small but my girlfriend and I fitted fine and didn't feel cramped at all. The showers are not too small at all, I'm 6'2'' and weigh 12 stone and I had plenty of room. The fridges do make things cold, it just takes about 24 hours for them to do so as they are on a low setting. Also, if you take the card out the holder (which turns lights and air con off) before you leave the room then don't expect the fridge to work. We asked for a sea view and got one so very happy with that. People have also said that the walls are thin, this is true but I have stayed in many hotels where people walking down the corridors are heard, so it's not like this hotel is the only one to suffer from this, I'm afraid that happens when you go on holiday, deal with it. I know that it's subjective, and can depend on personal situations and maybe it depends who you have in the room next to you. Maybe we were lucky but neither of our neighbours made a sound. Some people seem to expect the service of the Hilton when they are paying under £400 for a week!! Get real.

People also moan that their towels weren't changed everyday?!? I ask, do they change them everyday when they are at home? The maids were cleaning rooms everyday and we only asked for them to do so twice for our whole stay and when we returned to the room it was spotless. Can't comment on the food as we didn't even set foot in the canteen as we were room only. When eating out I would recommend going down to the bay/sea port (10 minute walk) where there are a number of lovely restaurants with excellent service (Roca Mar in particular, slightly hidden but you eat on a balcony over looking the sea). On the beach I would recommend the Harbour Club, which has just opened. We found the spanish people in restaurants to be as pleasant as one would expect. Joking with us and very friendly.

The only slight frustration was getting a Taxi between the hours of 9.30 - 11pm from outside the hotel. It's complete mayhem. It only seems to be the English that understand a first come first served basis. We were waiting for 30 mins on a couple of occasions and some europeans seem to think that they can jump the queue, if you're not careful they will try and jump into your taxi. The hotel will order you one, but the taxi companies are busy between these peak hours so it can take a while, you may need to flag one down.

Would I stay here again? Yes definitely, for under £400 you can't go wrong and is excellent value. I was nervous before we got there based on some reviews and if you are then I would say not to worry. It's fine... unless you want Hilton service but can't afford it, and then complain when you don't get it.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep late then I would avoid a room that overlooks the pool as this plays music and...

The hotel is situated right by the beach and the rooms are okay, a bit worn and very basic and with tiny shower cubicles/baths. We requested sea view when we booked but but were told when we checked in that 'we have none available' which now I don't believe was true as I feel sure that they were saved for the Spanish. We also requested a late checkout however we were told that for this privileged it would cost us 50 Euros. My husband and I are both slim yet we struggled to shower in the limited space in the bath, if you are of normal build or overweight you will really have a problem showering or bathing. The fridge in our room wasn't even slightly cool and when we mentioned this to the reception staff we were told 'fridge isn't for making cold', that's funny, I thought it was. The staff on reception however were really nice and helpful which was a plus point. We didn't go all inclusive and I am so glad for that, as the breakfasts were truly horrendous. In the end we just didn't bother going in, as the food (even the sealed packets of cakes) were awful and we are not fussy people at all. So we ate at the local restaurants even though it meant we paid usually at least 25 euros for a really basic breakfast for both of us. As I said before the hotel is situated close to the beach, however if you want to spend time on the beach you will have to purchase a sun bed and umbrella from a really nasty and aggressive vendor on the beach at a ridiculous price, we were caught out once and then decided to not bother with the beach at all after this. We ate a few times at restaurants near to the hotel however we were given such rude and bad service and terrible food at ridiculously expensive prices that we ended up going into Ibiza Town most evenings where the food was better, and the service was much friendlier there and we felt much more welcome. There were hardly any Brits at this hotel and I really feel that in Talamanca the British are just not welcome. We always go out of our way to be friendly and I also always use my knowledge of the Spanish language to converse with the Spanish, yet in Talamanca we were still made to feel like unwelcome second class citizens. We left Ibiza vowing never to come back to Spain for a holiday again.

Room Tip: There is a really good little supermarket 5 minutes away, use this for food and drinks to avoid bein...
