Ate outside under the plane trees. Wonderful local white wine and delicious food. Service and atmosphere were really nice.

Great resto offering a courtyard for casual dining and wine tasting and inside cozy dining. Sabrina heads up a great waitstaff that offers good service and advice on the menu and wines.

Delicious three course dinner (a flan of vegetables with ecrevisse, followed by a local white fish called bar which was served over stir fried vegetables and new potatoes in a very flavoursome sauce, and a puree of fresh peaches with creme fraiche) and two glasses of cold and very good local white wine for 34.50 euros. There are two choices for each course. Our waitress was the charming and English-speaking wife of the chef. They have an excellent and diverse wine list which are not just local wines and many of which you can order by the glass and buy from their cave.

This is a small find of a restaurant right in the center of the village of Cairanne, which is a fast rising wine village. For lunch, this is about 3 choices on a fixed menu for approximately16 euros, which is a steal as that's a starter, main and desert. The food was fresh and a nice version of Provence style, although without the de rigeur olives or tomatoes. Quite good. Dinner is more but this is where the chef can show more choices and interesting ideas. A feuillete of asparagus, a few more fish and meat choices, also additional deserts. The room at night is quite pretty, as is the smaller lunch area. However, one of the big pluses is that they have many local wines by the glass and have quite a selection of bottles from the greater area at fair prices. Service was normal and friendly. When we got to the cafe at the end, we were offered to move outside and enjoy the nice day.

Impressed by the raves on TA we decided to try Le Tourne au Verre when we went up to Cairanne for the foire aux vins. The experience was very good, but not quite as spectacular as we had been led to expect. We had reserved so were seated immediately on a day when the restaurant had posted "full." We appreciated the fact that they were turning people away and not rushing the guests they seated to ensure turnover. Does that ever happen in the US? We waited for what seemed "too long" to receive any attention from the servers; but when they did finally ask us for our orders, they could not have been more cheerful and helpful. So all was fine in the end of that front. We chose four menus @ 15€50. The "cake au thon" was more cake and less tuna than we'd have liked (rather dry); but the main dish of lamb and mashed potatoes smothered in mustard and cream sauce was tasty and generous, and the desserts (panna cotta with berries and apple pie) were excellent. The cheapest red by the glass (2€) was only OK; but then we had been spoiled by all the excellent wines we'd tasted at the fair. Overall impression was that the staff was a bit overwhelmed and more focused on the regulars than the drop-ins; and that the food was very good but not remarkable for the price. We'll try again when we are in the area, but probably won't make a special trip.

Final comments: Our waitress was extremely friendly to our children, but had no special menu for kids. We appreciate the fact that some restaurants consider nine-year-olds as serious eaters, and we hate the fried chicken and fries so often offered; but it is nice when the children can order half portions of adult dishes. Noise level is high. It really is a bistrot/wine bar kind of place.
