“A country manor Exceeding our expections”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

After driving from the Vallee de la Loire through Murat and Aurillac, we came to Estaing, one of the pilgimmage stops for Santiago de Compostela and also one the most beautiful villages of France named for the ancestors of Giscard d'Estaing. Outside the city a short distance is the lovely country manor of La Fabregues with rooms overlooking the river and fertile farmland. There is a road in back of the manor where one can stroll that has some beautiful views of the countryside and hills. The rooms in the manor are relatively small, but well maintained and with all of the amenities. There is no elevator and the passages are quaint but small. One of the owners met us at the door and showed us around the premises. I enjoyed the view from our room and the sound of the river falling over the dam. We ate a wonderful prepared meal in the attached and charming restaurant that has limited tables, but a very nice parlor where one can wait before being ushered into the dining room. The restaurant was not crowded the night that we were there, so service was excellent as was the food. This is a romantic place and worth the visit.

La Manoir de la Fabreques is a beautiful country home which the owners have fixed up so beautifully with their hearts and souls! They love this manoir and it is apparent from the beautiful interior decorations to the impeccable service to the immaculate care and maintenance. This is not your normal chambre d'hotes. Linens and towels are crisp and new, decorations and furnishings just beautiful and culled from the finest brocantes in France. The Manoir's living room/lounge is absolutely stunning, yet warm and comfortable at the same time. The inn's restaurant was also very good and again meticulous detail has been paid to serving an excellent menu as well as good organic quality! The prices were unbelievably low! There was a beautiful view of the river from our room and everything was peaceful and tranquil. Only three minutes drive from Estaing and about 45 minutes from beautiful Conques!

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room. Although it will also be facing the main road, there is very little traff...

We stayed in an amazing family room on the top floor of the hotel (two rooms permanently joined as one) -which meant that parents and daughter each had their own space (room and bathroom!). The rooms are beautifully decorated and the hosts really friendly. We had dinner and breakfast there and the (home-cooked and locally sourced) food was delicious. Highly recommended!!

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely small hotel in May. We were enroute from Provence to Bordeaux and used Le Manoir as an overnight break on our journey. What a beautiful property in a glorious location. We wished that we had been able to stay longer. Eric and Laurent were most welcoming. We had booked a suite, which was located at the top of the stairs and it was perfectly appointed. We had opted to dine in that night and had probably the best meal on our 8-week trip. We had pre-dinner drinks in the conservatory and Eric presented us with some delicious snacks prepared by Laurent. Laurent is a marvellous and talented chef and Eric at front of house was a great host. The dining rooms were beautifully appointed and the guest lounge with open fire place is stunning. Everything is very tasteful and elegant. Estaing is located in the Lot valley and Le Manoir overlooks farmland, forest and the Lot River. The township is very pretty and tourism is not rampant in the town. The drive through the Lot valley on the way to Sarlat was indescribably beautiful. Worth visiting a short distance from Estaing is the Chapel of Mourning. A very poignant legend which will leave you with goose bumps.

Room Tip: Book the suite; it's spacious and very comfortable. Definitely dine in for a wonderful experien...

We stayed at Le Manoir for the third time for a week in early July 2011 and yet again found it to be a wonderful and refreshing experience. The hosts, Eric and Laurent, have consistently made small improvements to the hotel over the course of our visits and each stay is a pleasure. This time we had room 10 for two nights and the junior suite, our favourite, for 4 nights.
The restaurant was again a delight with duck, beef and trout dishes from locally-sourced ingredients.
Le Manoir was completely relaxing and was deservedly fully booked during our stay. Very modestly priced and highly recommended. We are residents of Melbourne, Australia and having to come so far to stay in France, we hope our expectations will be met. Le Manoir has consistently fulfilled our hopes and expectations.

We had our second stay at Le Manoir de la Fabreques in December 2010. Again absolutely superb. The hosts Eric and Laurent are charming. The food with emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce and local dishes was first class. The hotel is beautifully restored and decorated and our stay was warm and comfortable. This time we had a junior suite on the top floor with bedroom, two full bathrooms and sitting room. The Lot River valley where the hotel is located is beautiful and very historic. Having come from our favourite hotel in St Germain in Paris, we can say Le Manoir is every bit as good but one fifth the price. We look forward to returning again in 2011.

Le Manoir de le Fabreques is a beautifully restored hotel and restaurant run by Eric and Laurent in the beautiful Lot River valley between Estaing and Espalion. The hosts are charming and most helpful in every way. The restaurant specialises in local fresh ingredients and dishes and is a wonderful experience. Laurent amongst his many other duties as one of the hosts is the restaurant chef and does a magnificent job.
The rooms and bathrooms are nicely finished, immaculate and comfortable. The hotel is the preferred accomodation for the former President of France, Valery Giscard d'Estaing whilst he restores the castle in the nearby village of Estaing. Having stayed there it is easy to see why. This is a first class hotel and restaurant in all respects and is highly recomended. We have already booked our next stay there.
