“great locale for Loire chateaux”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Our 3-night stay in this small, new hotel went very well. We were there to see the Loire Valley chateaux, and we did. It is practically on the edge of Chambord's forests, and I had no difficulty negotiating my way alone in a rental car to Cheverny, Chenonceau and Fougeres-sur-Bievres on a day when my husband staved off a brief illness in our hotel room. My overall hotel impression is "white." The stuccoed exterior is white and our room was almost entirely white, spacious, and airy with both a front and a back door. It fronted on a lawn overlooking a small pond with a church steeple, an orchard, and fairly attractive outbuildings beyond. A restaurant a half block away had lovely garden seating and was quite good. We ate one breakfast at the hotel; it was adequate but would probably have been free in an American hotel--not 8 euros. As with the rest of our trip to France, we preferred getting the bulk of our food from a bakery or grocery in the village. The bed was a comfy king, but I think it was one of several on our French trip that only had a bottom sheet and comforter when sleeping under a top sheet alone would have been more comfortable. We did not ask for another sheet.

We stayed because this hotel is on the edge of the Chambord Chateaux and Forest! Go to Chambord first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds. The hotel was a little bit further from the expressway than my maps seemed to indicate, but it was still not to difficult to find. Large parking space. All rooms front on a small pond and nearby church. Very clean and modern having just opened last year or so. Owner/manager speaks great English and is very friendly and helpful. The French restaurant across the street offers GREAT Cuisine at very reasonable prices..18 euro for three courses! Hard to beat! Reservations are highly recommended, which the hotel is glad to help with. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but most people did and it looked fine!

Room Tip: We stayed in the larger room..it was worth it!

If you intend to visit the Castles of Chenonceau and especially Chambord but also a few others I recommend this hotel which is close located. You'll find a new built small hotel with a friendly english-speaking manager who runs almost the hotel by himself, prepares the sufficient breakfast, sells wine and non-alcoholic drinks. 200 meters away a one-star-restaurant is located. And at the right time stay you get hours of frog concert from the hotel own natural pool (entering is not allowed).

Room Tip: All rooms in the first floor situated to the natural pool

We booked a triple room for two nights and were really pleased with our stay. The room was actually a huge apartment with a full kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, a dining room, balcony and bedroom. It was a good location for visiting the Loire valley as long as you have a car. The receptionist was very friendly but wasn't around all the time. They left the back door completely open so you could get in when he wasn't there - not ideal for security.
