i want to start this review with a rave about the food here. the chef, whomever they are is a real star. we tried lots of things on the menu - the duck charcuterie, the lamb cutlets, the waygu porterhouse, the pork belly (oh my god, perfectly cooked.) roasted kipflers as well as the scallops and thoroughly enjoyed everything. they were able to adjust everything to be gluten free at the last minute too which was super awesome and it obviously didn't impact quality of the food. the food was also very reasonably priced.
what let's this place down is the service staff.. wow. they really suck! they didn't remember basic things like drinks/water/removing dirty plates/offering clean plates/cutlery. tiny mistakes can be forgiven if there is at least some charm/charisma but they didn't not greet us warmly or smile or anything. it was really weird, actually.
also there is no ambience in the dining room. some music or candles would really help. i am writing this because it seems so sad that the chef is obviously talented and gives a crap(which seems kind of hard to come by on the peninsula) but the service staff clearly do not.
