An excellent guide through the real Tokyo by a local expert - what more could you want? From the early planning with Owen to the consumate touring with our bilingual guide Rie, we were shown what the beautiful city of Tokyo has to offer. Excellent value for money, and a great way to see Tokyo in a bespoke and interesting manner. Highly recommend.

“Fabulous tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

Arrived with family early, on our very first overseas trip.Little overwhelmed with Tokyo subway so decided to take a private walking/ public transport tour to ease ourselves into all things Japanese that afternoon. Best decision ever. Communication prior to trip sorted out places of interest for 10 and 16 year old and us also. Rie was our fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and fun! We loved the Shabu-shabu lunch that we managed to squeeze into our itinerary! It remains my 10 year old's favourite experience of the whole trip! We also very much appreciated Rie's suggestions for the remainder of our time in Tokyo.

“Excellent guided walking tour of Tokyo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014

This was an excellent introduction to Tokyo . Our guide MeWah, was fabulous. It was a long day starting at 9 & finishing at 1645, so put comfy shoes on. We went all over Tokyo, seeing many things tourists would miss. The tour included a rickshaw ride, morning tea of sushi,(yum) and lunch of noodle soup( can add tempura for a cost) and a few train rides. also gave us some tips for dining and shopping.Well organised and well worth the money

“Great Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2014

Owen of Backstreeet Guides provided Miwa for our family of eight guided tour through Tokyo. I had previously communicated with Owen our interests and he provided a flexible itinerery for our full day private tour. Miwa was informative, interesting and a very lovely lady, willing to stop to explain things and patient with those intermittent shopping stops. My family and I have no hesitation in recommending this company to people travelling to Japan. Backstreet Guides are efficient, reasonably priced and if you are lucky, you may also have Miwa to guide you through the streets of Tokyo

“Great Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2014

Backstreet Tours definitely lived up to their reputation. Our Guide, Rie, met us at our Hotel. The weather was awful with Tokyo having it's worst snow storm in 23 years. We had an all day tour scheduled, but due to the conditions we stopped after 6 hours. Rie was still willing and eager to go on, but being from California, we could not deal with it. We saw everything we asked to see and had a very nice local lunch. She even took us back to the Hotel at the end of our tour. They honored all of our original agreement and we were able to modify our agenda. Rie was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. We had a nice time spending a day with her.
