“Sunrise Tours to tour Japan”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

I booked through Viator.com, 3 different tours with Sunrise tours. Specifically, i took a half-day Narra tour, Full-day Kyoto tour, and Full-day Hiroshima/Miyajima tour.

I specifically was looking for english speaking tour guides. As we were going through the tours, seems like there were two other companies that had english speaking tours.

My feedback is primarily general:

1) Please make sure you double/triple check your pickup if you are not going to meet them at the initial location and have a pickup scheduled with them. In 2/3 tours, we used a pickup location and were not picked up until several calls to them.

2) English is not their primary language of course, so you never know who you will get. On one of the tours, the person english was really weak, and he was talking very fast that it was hard to understand him.

3) The guides, know many of the general items, which you will hear. but very little was shared when it came to true historical details or tying the historical flow together.

4) They need to add time to the tours to enjoy a little more. You really don't get enough time at the stops for the pictures or just to walk around for shopping.

I am not sure if I would use their services again.

“Tokyo morning tour”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

When we arrived in Tokyo we had a sunrise tour booked to see some of the Tokyo sites.
The tour guide Mai san was excellent she took us on a bus tour of Tokyo Tour, Imperial Palace, a Shrine and then drive through Ueno and Ginza. These tours are a great way to get orientated when you arrive in Japan and the tour guides are really helpful with providing you with support in other areas. Was very pleased by the tour and the guide's professionalism.
I recommend the Nara Afternoon tour as well the guide was not as good as in Tokyo but it is any easy way to see attractions and to get supporting information on different attractions.
All tour guides have very good English speaking skills.

“Excellent day trip to Mt Fuji and Hakone; return to Tokyo via bullet train”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Tour itinerary was well-planned and tour was very well organized. Entire trip was worth every cent paid--from the coach drive to Mt Fuji, the lunch, the cruise on Lake Ashi, the Komaga-take ropeway ride, right to the bullet train back to Tokyo. We had a very patient, attentive, caring and well-versed Japanese guide, Harry san, who spoke good English, and was above all, humorous! He not only gave a running commentary of sights along the way and the history of Japan, he entertained us with jokes and interesting anecdotes. He also made sure we all knew how to return to our hotels from our different drop off points. The coach driver was very careful and the drive was smooth throughout. To top all that, the view of Mt Fuji was fantastic! Well done, Harry san! Well done, Sunrise Tours!

“Our TRip to Mt Fuji - September 2013”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

On Friday, 20 September 2013 we were to be picked up on a day tour to Mt Fuji and Hakone. The meeting time was at 8:10 at the ‘Front Information’ desk at Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo. We were waiting at the meeting place from 8:00 to 8:30 but no bus came to pick us up. We requested the hotel reception to find out what caused the delay. Following inquiries made by the hotel staff with the bus company (Sunrise Tours), approximately at 8:45 they advised us that the bus did not stop at the hotel and asked us to catch two taxis to catch up with the bus already on its way to Mt Fuji. We were also asked to pay the taxi fare. This was the most unbelievable, ridiculous proposal after having paid the tour in full. We were very annoyed and the payment request was vehemently refused. The attitude of the hotel management was disgusting. Few minutes later, the Operations Manager of the bus company rang me via the hotel phone and provided us with two taxis at their costs to catch up with the bus which was about 30-40 minutes away from the hotel, at that moment.

What a dreadful start of a day on a foreign tour! We were surprised that the ‘Sunrise Tours’ representative (guide) who was in charge of the tour did not pick us up (6 persons) and still not realised the missing persons in the ‘list of participants’ and not noted the six vacant seats on the bus. This incident caused so much psychological stress early in the morning and we did not get the value and satisfactory service for our money. After returning to Australia, we strongly demanded an investigation to find the offender responsible for the ‘big blunder ‘and we are compensated for the agony and stress.

Following investigations, our travel agent (in Australia) informed us that the representative in charge of picking up the tour participants in the Shinjuku area
was not feeling good and suddenly collapsed on the job. For that reason, the
hotels had to be contacted and hotel staff was requested to
advise tour participants. This was never advised to us when we were making inquiries from hotel staff about the delay in picking us up. Who picked up the other passengers on the bus if the representative was not feeling good and why we were not advised of his/her illness when we were waiting at the meeting place? We do not believe the reason for not picking up is true. We are very disappointed with ‘Sunrise Tours’ and will not recommend them to anyone that we know.

“Excellent large tour ”
Reviewed October 4, 2013 via mobile

Did the Kyoto and Nara one day tour. Both guides were excellent and the tours were well organized. Lunch was very good. If and when I come back to Japan, will almost definitely do more tours by this company.
