On first impressions this facility belies what lies beyond the gift shop and through the entrance way to the facility itself. The educational benefits for young and old is clearly one of the main directions the facility has taken and the services it provides to orphaned and injured birds and mammals is a wonderful service to the community and to Vancouver Island itself, as animals often come from other parts of the Island to be treated and rehabilitated here. It is one of the better things to do in this area but also in Parksville/Qualicum Beach/Nanaimo as all are within easy distance to make this a great outing for families. The entrance fees are very reasonable as compared to other attractions in the area.
