Had a last minute get away from the kids for one night at the Cliff Hotel. Booked online for a deluxe room for just £70.00 including breakfast. Firstly, as we live quite near we knew there alteration and building work going on. some areas, such as the bar have already been completed and are very nice, other areas are very dated but nothing too bad. Our room was newly refurbished. It was also very cold, radiator was hot but it was freezing outside, also our room 117 was opposite generator or something rumbly and droning..receptionist didnt have a clue what i was talking about when i mentioned it.?? Asked for a fan heater as it was so cold (twice!) receptionist said she would look when she had a minute! finally got heater and it was fine.
Its all ok and will be great when finished. breakfast was really superb, also good service there too. Oh and the generator finally stopped about midnight! We have also had the sunday carvery and it is YUMMY, second to none. Its all right near beach too, if u arent too cold to go down there!

Stayed at the hotel recently and had a very nice room overlooking the harbour. Staff service was good and so was the food. I will return next time I am in the area of business. There is a nice walk along the clifftop from the hotel entrance.

Hi the evening out at the cliff hotel restaurant was a good experience all the food was presented
well and was delicious the waiter service was second to none, just one thing the menu could
do with bit more choice and tables with a cover ,apart from that the separate bar lots of room
to have a quiet drink.

Stayed there last night for bargain price of £50 inc breakfast for us both

Ate in the restaurant while watching Espn game shown in bar, the gammon and chips were delightful

Stayed in room 118 which had recently been refurbed and was beautifully done out with massive shower

Breakfast of salmon and scrambled eggs were equally as nice for breakfast this morning

Staff real nice, only issue was after returning from Yarmouth at 3am we couldn't get night porters attention even by calling him on phone number which was printed at front door, thought we were for a night in our car!!!

Yes the hallways needed finishing off but it's a major renovation in hand, will be fantastic when all finished

We will go back again :)

I start with a disclaimer. I didn't actually stay in the hotel. I did, however, attend a family function in the function room, have drinks in the bar and checked out one of the rooms of someone who was staying there. This hotel is steeped in local history. It once was a showpiece (i believe in the late 19th century), consisting of 139 rooms and it was the place to be. Years later a fire gutted it and it is now a much reduced but quite nice 37 room hotel. The main hotel is comfy and retains the old world feel. It's complimented by a modern stylist bar with a good amount of seating on the terrace. Fabulous views over the sea and the large sandy beach. The hotel is accesible in the front which has a small car park. You can walk through the hotel, through the bar to the terrace, which has a number steps that lead down to another street which is across the street from a bandstand and then just a few feet from the beach. Follow the terrace to the left and you can step down into a garden area with a poignant war memorial in the middle. Apparently troops were billetted in the hotel during WWII. Terrific location and it is clear that it's quite booked up in the summer months. One of two hotels in the immediate vicinty, the other being the Pier Hotel, it brings in the locals for food and drink as well as the tourists. The hotel has a sizeable function room which contains its own separate bar - great for weddings and the like as it's all self contained. Although I did not stay there, as i mentioned above, I did get a good feel for the hotel and would not hesitate to stay there in the future.

Clear view of the roof air conditioning units and fire escape from our window. Room was too small for executive room, just enough room to walk down each side of the bed. Sheet did not fit bed and duvet would have been preferable to the blanket. No draws for storage. We found the complementry coffee facilities in the wardrobe, it was the only shelf wide enough to hold the tray and the socket for the plug was next to the wardrobe. Filling the kettle was another disaster as the sink was too small to fill the ketle and then remove it from under the tap.The only mirror was on the end of this wardrobe just out of reach of the lead on the room hair dryer. No shelf in the bathroom to place any toiletries and a free standing towel rail which had to be moved around the bathroom to be able to get from one side to the other. Face in shadow when using bathroom mirror, lights need to be repositioned. Who ever refurbished this room needs to go and stay in it and see what a shambles they have made. The burger in the bar menu was served up raw, the only hot food my husband ate during this stay.

The room we stayed in was very well appointed and had been recently modernised. Big white fluffy towels and a good range of toileteries. Room was nice and warm on a cold winters night and a good selection of tea & coffeee making facilities in room.Good TV with all channels accessable. Lovely harty English breakfast with all the normal juices & cereals available. Friendly staff However all rooms are either 1st or 2nd floor. No lift!
Pleasent bar and pato area looking out over the cliffs, out to sea. Good bar and restraunt menu well cooked.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a sea view.
