I've walked past this pretty little tea shop and finally went in today with a friend. After 'playing' with the old-fashioned telephone in the entrance, trying out our 1930's cut-glass accents, we stepped back in time as we went. It's a little gem and a perfect reproduction of an English tea room from the 30's-40's - just like the tea shop in Dad's Army! Wonderful menu with a wide range of food - sandwiches, soups, crumpets, tea cakes alongside set-teas with the full works and all great value. It's a delight!

A truly authentic afternoon tea experience - everything from the wallpaper to the music, to copies of newspapers and magazines of the time is perfectly in period. A varied choice of teas, homemade scones, jam and delcious cakes including a gut-sticking chocolate cake made with Green&Blacks chocolate - delicious! Add to that waitresses in period costume and china cups and tea pots - some of which you can buy.

A really quaint, well-thought out tea-room. The atmosphere is really authentic and you feel you have gone back in time! Even down to the hand-written menus, and the waitresses in costume - it is a really lovely atmosphere. There is a good selection of hot drinks. The staff are really friendly, especially the owner, who was particularly welcoming to my daughter and a group of her friends who went on a separate occasion to me. Adults in other tea-rooms have assumed that because they are teenagers, they are second-class citizens, but the lady here was lovely to them and made them feel really welcome. Everyone in my family love it here, and we will all be visiting again soon!

I took my mother to this tearoom as I had read about it in the local paper and thought it would appeal to her.
She was not disappointed. The interior is small but a good reproduction of a 1930s establishment,. Antique china and furniture etc add to the experience.
Service was very good and it was lovely for our tea and cakes to be served on such lovely china. We had a coffee and chocolate sponge cake- they were both delicious. Even the washroom had been decorated in the 1930s style.
I will look forward to another visit in the near future.
