What a brilliant find. We stopped for a long weekend on the way to/from Sidmouth to see some friends. Sally and Jools could not have been more welcoming or friendly. The room was really nice, with a gorgeous roll top bath, fabulous walk in shower and everything you could wish for.

We eat in the restaurant both nights and were hugely impressed with the food, service and ambiance. Sally and Jools run the Pilgrims exactly the way that appeals to us, unhurried service, being friendly and efficient without being intrusive. Most importantly, the food was exceptional! It is rare these days to vividly remember the food that is served to you, but we will both remember the main course (beef collops), it was just too good to forget.

Breakfast was another delight with cooked food being made to order and prepared to the same standard as everything else. Jool's home made bread was another highlight!

We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back!

My wife and I visited this restaurant out of curiosity as it happened to be on our route home following a diversion. The food was excellent and prompt. The staff were friendly and polite - the chef even took the time to ask us if we were enjoying our meal. There was a limited choice of beer on draft (as far as I could see) but what they did have was great.

As we were visiting the Yeovilton Air Show we decided to book two nights at Pilgrims as the reviews were so good. We were certainly not disappointed in any way. From the welcome of a cup of tea on arrival after a hot journey, everything was super. We were unable to have evening meals on both nights, but that was not a problem as Sally had suggested alternatives close by.
All meals were cooked to order and were some of the finest we have ever had.
The bedroom was very well equipped, quiet and we had two good nights sleep.
Some comments have mentioned no music in the dining room, please keep it that way. We don't all want noise its rural Somerset.

Pilgrims is in a rural drive through by some oddly placed traffic lights! Once inside, its a smart eatery with care and attention paid to the quality and delivery of the food. Should book.

Don't be put off by the external appearance! We were looking for somewhere to stop off on the way back from Cornwall and Googled/Trip Advisor'd the area.
Whilst the picture of the place wasn't very appealing, the TA reviews swayed us and as it was only for 1 night, we gave it a go. And what an excellent choice it turned out to be. A very friendly welcome from Sally and we were showed to our room (No 1) which was very well appointed. A big sleigh bed, plenty of space and modern bathroom. The attention to detail was good and flannels were provided in addition to the usual soaps, shower caps etc.. 2 bottles of water were placed beside the bed - another thoughtful touch for those of us who now have to pill push every evening!
The evening meal food was brilliant. Don't expect fast food and the delay in individual preparation only increase the expectation. Really good, well cooked food withour sacrifice of portion size! The only regret that we didn't have enough room for desert.
Breakfast (such an important part of the day!) was very good indeed and Jools remembered my liking for black pudding from the previous evening and gave me 2 slices for breakfast; another nice touch.
Another thing that made a difference was the obvious thought that had gone into what is essentially a challenging decoration problem on a basically unattractive building. In addition, and a small thing, but the quality of the paper they used on all things from menus to information literature was very high and made a noticeable (to me) difference.
All in all, thoroughly recommended.
