Straight of the plane at Narita airport, Asakusa was easy to get to via train, and Ryokan Kamogawa was only a short walk from the station. The traditional atmosphere of this part of Tokyo is lovely, very reminisent of Kyoto. The ryokan was easy to find, very clean and well presented. My husband and I stayed in a Type B large room with bathroom attached. The room was really two rooms - an opening area with mini-fridge, table and Japanese chairs, mirrors and little dresser, then an adjoining room with the futon beds laid out. The room was serviced each of the 3 days we stayed. We had the Western-style breakfast each day, and it was simple but sufficient. Other guests had the Japanese-style breakfast and it also looked very good. The staff spoke English well. The only fault was some noisy guests in the room next door on the last night, but I can't really fault the ryokan for that. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, try the Type B room. It was really spacious, and well presented.

I stayed for 3 nights and I totally enjoyed it. Located in a traditional small popular town, surrounded by great food, restaurants, shops. Easy access to Ginza/ Shibuya/ Fish market via direct metro line. The ryokan is clean and cozy, and staff is super nice and helpful to recommend routes and places to visit.

Asakusa is a gem among Tokyo's modern high rises. It's abundant shops, market and great restaurants make it a popular place for tourists and locals to hang. If you want to see the small Tokyo and you need a good location to hop around this part of the city, you cannot go wrong with this delightful little Ryokan

Friendly staff, great breakfast and did I mention an amazing location are the highlights of your visit to this traditional Japanese Inn. We actually stayed in the family room and it was more than comfortable for a family of four. In addition, the bathroom and other facilities were very clean and nicely appointed.

Once you depart, you are a short walk from the metro, Senso-Ji shrine and many of Tokyo's best sights. The Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa is perfect jump off point to explore and it is easy to return throughout the day. In all, this gem of an Inn is really ideal if you want to get a taste of traditional Japan is this thoroughly modern city.

Room Tip: The elevator is tiny so you may want to opt for a lower floor room if you have a bit of luggage.

Owner of Blue Compass Global Travel, Sacramento, California - Business trip. Before leaving for my trip to Japan I knew that I wanted to experience a traditional Japanese guest house... easier said than done. It took me awhile to find a Ryokan guest house( Ryokan), especially the Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa. It is a very popular place and it always seems to booked. I managed to book one night at the Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa - March 25, 2012. I would have stayed longer, but they were booked solid during the time that I was in Japan. I was in Japan(March 23 - March 28, 2012). This place was excellant, and it was right in the heart of Asakusa. It looked brand new place because it was super clean. The room that I stayed in was small and there were communal bathrooms, but they had locks for private use. It has three stories and there with an elevator. The dining area was also clean and the food was really good, in the morning they provide you an option of a Japanese breakfast which was about 1000 Yen or an American breakfast which was 600 Yen. The staff were helpful and very kind. All of the Temples are within walking distance and they are free to enter if you want to take pictures. There are so many traditional Great Place, I highly recoomend staying at the Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa.

Room Tip: The Japanese allow smoking in this Ryokan and many other Japanese restuarants in the area, just keep...

We stayed here for six nights and loved it. Staff are friendly, rooms and bathrooms are spotless, and Asakusa is a great place to stay while exploring Tokyo. A huge plus was how easy it was to get to the Ryokan (by monorail and Metro; Asakusa line) from Hanada Airport. There were three of us, and we chose the family room which was perfect for our needs. Not everyone spoke English but communication was never a problem. I would definitely recommend this as a place to explore Tokyo from.

For somebody with little experience with ryokasn this is an excellent place to start. Small, friendly, manager speaks excellent English and gives you advice in all matters ryokan. Rooms are perfect and quiet. The bath is small, but private so you won't share it with anyone, And the location is perfect, 100 meters from Senso-ji and surrounded by covered shop streets which do not cater only for tourists. The Ueno station is three metro stops away so you get easily anywhere. And there is a boat stop at the Asakusa metro station. It may be difficult to find, but after that everything is a breeze. Cannot recommend more emphatically. And what's more, it costs almost nothing.... But of course it is not for the whiny types. No luxury, no supersize, no compromise..

Room Tip: highest floor (4) best.

I arrived late (around 0030) due to a delayed flight. The airline called ahead and told me that someone would wait up for me. Thankfully the hotel was true to their word, and someone was till waiting. Thanks! I got a very nice room with tatami mats. The bed was comfortable, although the duvets were a little thick (got a bit warm under the covers). The ryokan was quite empty, so I had the onden downstairs to myself whenever I used it. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
