This is probably the most interesting food shopping experience to be had outside of Tsukiji Fish market. Many Asian products -- also Chinese.

Tokyo can be expensive for travelers (esp with the unfavorable yen exchange rate). Bargain hunters will be pleasantly surprised with Ameyoko. Inexpensive eateries dot the streets, and yakitori houses can be found under the train tracks. The smell of grilled chicken on skewer will make anyone hungry! Don't forget to stop by the 24-hour Ichiran Ramen at Ueno Station...it's a unique dining experience, perfect for lone travelers.

Plenty of shops to browse (and the store owners are actually friendly to tourists). OS Drug is not to be missed if you want to find Japanese pharmaceuticals at inexpensive price. Minato serves fresh seafood bowls, direct from Tsukiji market. You won't be bored at Ameyoko!

Ameyoko is a fascinating place. Plus, it's in Ueno so plenty of other things to do nearby! Great place to spend a weekend afternoon.

Erotic and disgusting at once, I love this place. Vendors have weird Hentai themed shops and vendor stalls with oversized tentacles. Makes you wonder what the special sauce in the food is. Lots of electronic gadget stores to find anything possible.

Well this was a feast for the eyes! I personally believe that this market is more for men or a place to go if you wish to buy stuff for a man. Most of the stalls and shops offer Men's apparel & Electronics. There are many gaming complexes too!
There are lots of stalls that offer food in which to cook with, like rices, mushrooms, fruits and fish! I saw the most humongous red tentacles laid out on a few stalls, which was quite crazy!
A great place to pick up hot hawker food! The kebabs are to die for!
