Our family have recently visited Tokyo and we came across this Starbucks and it happens that we came on a festival day and although there is second floor sitting area on this starbucks, the Japanese manager of this Starbucks only let Japanese customers go up and use the second floor sitting area. Any non Japanese customers are welcome to buy the coffee here but he would tell foreigners that there is no seats up on second floor.

Funny enough, immediately after he turned away foreigners, he would let Japanese customers go up to sit in the sitting area. I questioned him of his management style, and all of a sudden, this Manager claims he can not speak English.

He then assigned a female staff to handle my question. This manager's English was fine up until I complain about his prejudice towards non Japanese speakers. After I complained about his management style then he can no longer speak English.

I am baffled, why Starbucks Coffee Japan, Ltd would hire manager with sub-standard English to manage their shops?? If this shop manager's can not communicate in English, perhaps he can be re-educated before serving Starbucks customer. How possible can this person serve foreigners who are visiting Tokyo Olympics in 2020??????

This Starbucks is located next to the Tobu station where you can take the trains to Nikko. It looks small but has a good number of seats on the two upper floors.
