We thought it was worth seeing this mammoth temple, with its huge gate, giant lanterns and extensive market selling everything from food to souvenirs. But the whole area was packed with people, both tourists and locals.

It's a temple! Not really my cup of tea but it is quite nice. It reminded me of Blackpool - one thing worth seeing surrounded by trashy shops trying to take the tourists yen from them.
Interesting, if you can't find anything else to do.
Asakusa is one of the best temples to see in Tokyo however because of this there are a lot of tourists. If youre not going to Kyoto it is worth a look. However, if youve already visited Kyoto or plan on it, Asakusa could be skipped.
Nice and pleasant place as it has both the traditional side of japanese society and the typical modernity. Easy access via public transport and great variety of restaurants. Also, there is a bulding specially for tourism information.
My daughters and I loved spending time here. Great shopping in the alley ways and side streets. Loads of friendly and helpful people and just a relaxing place to go despite lots of people around. Heaps of places to eat as well with a wide variety of choices. Deserves an afternoon here.
