My kids love it, this museum is located in ueno Koen/park, has a huge collection for animals. We spent hours inside this 6 floor museum. We learnt start from our earth, the creatures inside the world, incl. First human in earth, untill the greatest human inventions. Not mentions the shop, they sell an amber with an insect trapped inside! This museum is unbelievable! Wow! Wow! And wow!

We started our visit at the Ueno Park with this museum. And we had no regrets! We were able to catch an amazing exhibit about Mammals which wqs so well curated. After this, we explored the museum proper. The exhibits spans many floors from from the basement upwards so make sure that you get to see all that is available. The wealth of fossils and the special exhibits on pre-history were so amazing. It was a thoroughly educational morning, leaving you with wanting to learn more. Expect to spend 3 hours or more here if you are into the life sciences.

Museum is great and huge - one need at least 3 hours to see everything. it's entertaining for both kids and adults! it explains everything in english as well (except a couple of movies you can see throug out the museum on the screens). highlight of the visit is 360 cinema - it's an amazing experience (no extra payment, it's included in the entrance proce which is btw very cheap I think around 5-6 USD). The short movie is presented on the walls all around you and you feel like you are part of it-we loved it!

Spent about 3 hours on a busy Sunday at the museum which is very popular with school children. Have a large number of exhibits in the 2 halls with one dedicated to Japan while the other Global. Many fossils and meteorites were on displayed too. The famous Hichiko, the faithful dog, can be found there too.
Overall a good place to visit but most of the explanations were in Japanese and English is quite limited. You can rent a recorder-like player which you can hear the explanations in English, if I am correct.

We spent most of our time in the Global Gallery - with very well put together exhibits. The English explanations are limited, but many of the displays speak for themselves. The first hall on 1, "Navigators on History of Earth" was spectacular, and presented a visual evolution of humans all the way from the Big Bang to modern human. The tree of life (also on this floor) was a beautiful presentation of the kingdoms of living things, with a wide variety of specimens representing the diversity of life. We would love to go back if we get the chance.
